Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles is definitely the most developed resort on the island. The beach here is truly amazing. A huge expanse of flat sand, which seems to go on forever, backed by a dazzling array of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, hotels, villas: you name it. You can do anything here, from riding on a banana boat, to paragliding or having a tattoo!
The beach is as busy during the day as the streets are at night. This is the place to party, meet people and have fun! There are clubs to suit every taste and shops to suit every whim.
The resort of Playa del Ingles is mainly built on one level and has a good transport system, which makes getting around very easy, though you will probably want to spend most of your time between your apartment or hotel and the beach. The resort is particularly popular with Brits and Germans.
Shopping and Nightlife in Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles is packed with bars, clubs and shopping centres (about twelve?). For instance, the Kasbah is known for its fantastic clubs and bars, including the famous Cream and Pascha nightclubs. There are thriving English and Irish bars here too.
If you’re after the gay scene, head for the Yumbo Centre. At night, the main gay life of Playa del Ingles revolves around this centre in the heart of the resort. It is a massive, multi level resort complex, catering for the gay scene, with some outrageous shows and entertainment!
The CITA centre and CC Tropical are also well known and are good places for bargain hunting. Again, it becomes very busy at night with a huge choice of bars, clubs and restaurants. Towards Maspalomas you can find the huge Faro2 centre.
