Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is one of the main resorts on Gran Canaria and has a gorgeous beach and harbour, teeming with visitors (mainly Brits). It has grown considerably over the past ten years and is now a maze of hotels, apartments, bars, cafes, shops and nightclubs.

The new, huge hotels and apartments have taken over not just the flat building land, but climb the steep sided cliffs around Puerto Rico as well. If you are staying here, check the position of your apartment, as you may have a very long, steep climb on your way back from the beach!

There are lots of water sports and excursions to be had here. We went out for a couple of hours, dolphin spotting and had a great time. We saw quite a few dolphins and really enjoyed ourselves.

The choice of places to eat and drink is immense. You can choose from typical English pubs and bars, showing the latest episode of your favourite soap or live football on a myriad of TV screens. Alternatively, there are a few typical Canarian restaurants serving whatever has been caught by the local fishermen that day.
