Agaete is a small town on the north west corner of Gran Canaria and home to a permanent population of approximately 5000 people. The town harbour is one of the most popular spots to visit, giving wonderful views of both the North Atlantic Ocean and the striking cliffs of the coastline.
It is from the harbour here that you can catch a sailing to the neighbouring Canary Island of Tenerife.
Having long been a traditional fishing village, Agaete is now a great spot from which to enjoy sightseeing trips along the coast. The town itself has many fine examples of traditional white washed houses as well as attractive narrow streets to explore. The Church of the Conception is a particularly attractive religious monument dating back to 1875 and is located in the Plaza de la Constitución, another attractive landmark.
