Guide and Virtual Tour of Gran Canaria: Maspalomas Lighthouse.
Panorama | Review | Map
The Maspalomas Lighthouse is one of the most unique features of this very popular stretch of beach on the southern coast of Gran Canaria.
Locally known as El Faro de Maspalomas, the lighthouse is 65m high and was built in 1886 to protect the local fishing boats from the rocks. Heading for the lighthouse is also a great idea if you would like to visit the dunes, as it is an unofficial marker of where the dunes begin.
There are many hotels and apartments nearby as well as well-kept and attractive promenades to enjoy during both the night and day. For times when you feel like stretching your legs, simply walking around Maspalomas is a great way of getting a feel for the place.
