Guide and Virtual Tour of Gran Canaria: Puerto Mogan streets.
Panorama | Review | Map
This is the most westerly of the resorts along the southern coast, also the quietest and least developed. It is busy and bustling but in a more tasteful, chic way than its noisier neighbours. You won't find huge numbers of vast hotels here, or quite so many British bars with widescreen TVs showing wall to wall football. You're more likely to spend your evenings in a bar or restaurant than a club.
You may hear Mogan referred to as 'Little Venice'' which, quite frankly, is pushing it a bit, but there are some delightful little inlets and waterways.
Much of the harbour and shopping area is pedestrianised, which makes it quieter to wander around. The port has the atmosphere of a fishing village and marina combined.
The beach is lovely. Yellow sand and a gently curving bay, backed by shops, bars and restaurants. You can take boat trips from here, including the Yellow Submarine.
