Chapter 325 Daughter in the City
Chapter 325 Daughter in the City
Neither Koy nor Levi ever explained in detail what kind of feed Liam was transporting, but Yan Xun could imagine what it was.
Even though the truck on the way back to the city had unloaded all the feed, there were still traces of blood, so Liam wouldn't let them sit in the back.
Do you know their children who live in the city?
“It seems to be a girl,” Levy said uncertainly.
"Before you came to the farm, you met Liam's younger brother and sister, but they didn't reveal any clues?"
“They only said that Liam was soaking wet at the time,” Yan Xun said. “So it seems that before going home, Liam took her to the children’s house first.”
“That should be the case,” Levi nodded.
He looked down at the old man's corpse that he had left aside, then squatted down and tugged at the old man's wings. "Unbelievable."
He turned to look at Yan Xun, "It seems a lot of strange things have happened in the city."
He stood up. "Let's go back first. We probably won't find any more clues here."
Yan Xun glanced at the old man on the ground. "What about him?"
Levi's expression froze upon hearing this, as if Yan Xun's question was beyond his comprehension. "What should we do?" he repeated Yan Xun's words, then looked down at the table. "Put it here."
"Do not care."
Yan Xun imagined the scene, and the thought of someone slowly rotting in this house made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
“Perhaps we can report this to some people,” Yan Xun said.
Levi looked a little dumbfounded. "Who?"
“Those who have grown wings,” Yan Xun said.
He remembered his boss telling him that after the rich man grew wings, he formed a church—he didn't know the name of the church yet, but he knew that anyone who grew wings and anyone who was willing to believe in a new god could join the church.
The other party also suspected that Liam's disappearance was related to this new church. They suggested using this incident as an opportunity to make contact with them and investigate whether Liam's disappearance was related to them.
He told him everything, and Levy finally stopped looking foolish and nodded. "It's a good idea."
Then he looked at the old man's body with a troubled expression, "Are we going to take this back?"
He said to Yan Xun with some difficulty, "I don't want to carry this in my car."
"Put it here," Yan Xun said.
"Going back to the city with Koy's truck."
Levi looked relieved. "That's for the best."
Yan Xun searched the house again and found only some unfinished food and a photo of the old man and his wife.
No photos of their daughter were found.
"How much do you know about them?" Yan Xun asked.
“Very few,” Levy said. “I only found out they had a daughter when they accidentally let it slip.”
He followed behind Yan Xun, watching him search everywhere, as if he were playing some kind of detective game.
"They don't have a good relationship with their daughter?"
“Perhaps,” Levy said. “I’ve only heard them mention it once.”
"When they went to the city, they saw their daughter."
Yan Xun expressed his doubts, "You mean, they didn't expect to see their daughter in the city?"
"More or less," Levy said vaguely. "From what they said, they didn't expect her to be there either."
Did they talk?
“No,” Levy said. “I just looked at it from a distance.”
“He said that when he wanted to go find her, he found that she had disappeared,” Levi told Yan Xun. “There were a lot of people at that market.”
Yan Xun knew the market he was talking about; it was indeed very crowded.
"From what you're saying, they might not even know where their daughter lives?"
"All we know is that the other person might live in the city...?" Yan Xun found it increasingly unbelievable as he spoke.
Levy nodded. "That's right."
“I’m a private investigator, not a psychic,” Yan Xun couldn’t help but say. “I can’t find out where his wife went by talking to the dead.”
Yan Xun looked down at the old man.
It's unclear whether they reconnected with their daughter after that or had other plans for going to the city.
After searching around without finding any new clues, Yan Xun and Levi had no choice but to return to the farm to make further plans.
As Yan Xun left the house, he noticed that Levi had picked up the pig and then deftly tied the recently deceased pig to the roof of the car.
"You can't transport dead people, but you can transport dead pigs?" Yan Xun asked, watching Levi's actions.
The blood flowing from the dead pig not only stained Levi's clothes but also the roof of his car.
“Of course,” Levy said.
"If it were you, would you rather carry a dead person or a dead pig?"
Yan Xun couldn't help but say, "I don't want to choose either of them."
Ignoring Yan Xun's reluctance, Levy used the ropes meant for tying luggage to secure the pig to the roof of the carriage. Only after he had finished did he turn back to Yan Xun and say, "We can go now."
Yan Xun sat in the passenger seat, feeling that his day had been quite thrilling.
Perhaps because there was a dead pig on the roof of the car, Levi drove very carefully, afraid of encountering even the slightest bump—he hadn't been driving so gently when they arrived.
"Do you have pigs on your farm?" Yan Xun asked.
“I’ve raised some.” Levy said, focused on driving. “Don’t talk to me now, Ryan.”
Yan Xun leaned back in his chair, looking at the road ahead.
The system and the live stream room were nowhere to be found in this instance, as if he really was a private detective living in the local area.
Levy finally breathed a sigh of relief after driving through the most bumpy part of the road.
“You just said there are pregnant men in the city.” Levi turned to look at Yan Xun. “You and Koy both saw them?”
Yan Xun wasn't sure if he could talk about Liam's brother, so he only selectively mentioned the couple he had met and the landlady's dog. Then he brought up the bodies found around the farm.
"Did Coy tell you all this?" Levi asked.
Yan Xun wasn't sure if he was dissatisfied or simply asking a question, so he just nodded.
“I really didn’t tell him, I can’t tell anyone,” Levi muttered to himself, then said to Yan Xun, “Koy is always like this, he loves to talk about other people’s business.”
Simply put, Koy is a big mouth—Yan Xun understood what Levi meant, after all, it was Koy who told Liam about his brother.
“Some strange things have indeed happened around my farm,” Levy continued. “A while ago, I found some corpses around the farm.”
"To be precise, it was two weeks ago...maybe three weeks?" Levy said uncertainly.
"At first I thought it was a warning from the enemy."
"Although this location is secluded, it is not a secret."
This was a bit of a mouthful, but Yan Xun understood what he meant—the enemy probably knew about this place, but they weren't interested in seeing how Levy dealt with those "feeds."
