Chapter 18 The Person Who Won't Die
Chapter 18 The Person Who Won't Die
When Yan Xun left, he noticed that the door on the other side of the corridor had also been opened.
He stood there warily, not moving, and then noticed the person lazily tugged at his shirt before walking towards the elevator in slippers.
He was a little surprised when he saw Yan Xun, but he still nodded at him.
Yan Xun stood there and nodded to the other person.
The man had naturally curly hair, which had reached his chin, probably because it hadn't been trimmed in a while. He didn't seem to care much about Yan Xun's indifferent attitude and walked towards the elevator on his own, seemingly going to the management office to pick up today's supplies.
"Aren't you leaving?" he asked.
Gui Yuchong was right behind him. Yan Xun thought for a moment and said, "Never mind."
He didn't say why, but everyone in the building probably understood, and Natural Curly probably did too, so he ignored Yan Xun and just walked towards the elevator.
Soon, the elevator whistle sounded, and after confirming that the man at the end of the corridor was no longer there, Yan Xun walked out.
Behind him, of course, was the trembling Gui Yuchong.
Fortunately, they didn't encounter too much danger on their way back. Back in their room, Yan Xun threw the plastic bag on the table and then went to the kitchen to wash his hands.
—When he slashed at the fake man with his knife, the man didn't bleed, but the feeling still made his scalp tingle.
Gui Yuchong followed behind him all the way to the kitchen.
"What are you doing following me?" Yan Xun reached out and rinsed his hands under the tap.
One of the kitchen knives was missing from the knife rack next to him; it was the very one he had just taken out.
"When did you bring the kitchen knife?" Gui Yuchong asked.
"When we leave," Yan Xun said, washing his hands and drying them with kitchen paper. Then he looked at Gui Yuchong as he walked in. Their room wasn't big, and the kitchen was even smaller. Especially since Gui Yuchong and he were both quite tall, the kitchen seemed even more cramped.
He leaned back slightly to avoid Gui Yuchong, then threw the used kitchen paper into the trash can...
Then he pushed Gui Yuchong aside and walked to the trash can.
I squatted down and took a closer look.
There wasn't much in the trash can, or rather, there wasn't anything at all.
"What are you looking at?" Gui Yuchong also came over.
"There's nothing in the trash cans," Yan Xun said. "The building is locked down and we can't leave. Did we throw our trash in the hallway?"
The supplies consisted of bread and instant noodles in cups. The plastic bag that held the bread was nowhere to be found; one could say it was stuffed into some corner. But the packaging of the instant noodles was not so easy to hide... Yan Xun wondered if it was because someone in the building collected the garbage every day?
He thought for a moment, then simply picked up the relatively clean garbage bag and put it outside the door. Then, under Gui Yuchong's confused gaze, he returned to the kitchen.
“We didn’t just appear out of thin air,” Yan Xun said to Gui Yuchong. “The backstory says the entire building is sealed off, and I just saw that the outside of the building is shrouded in mist and there are monsters.”
“We can’t go without food and water these past few days, but there’s nothing in the trash cans.”
"Whether it's bread or instant noodles... especially instant noodle packaging, it's not so easy to store away."
"If this trash is left in the hallway, someone must be cleaning it up. Where did they put the trash after cleaning it up..." Yan Xun said this, but in his heart he was thinking about another possibility.
"And then?" Gui Yuchong didn't understand.
"Then go look for clues." Yan Xun didn't continue.
He took out some bread from the plastic bag and threw it to Gui Yuchong. Then he went to look for the food storage places at home, but there was no extra food in them, which made Yan Xun think that he had just been overthinking things.
But he still felt something was off.
Gui Yuchong followed beside him, munching on bread, until Yan Xun told him to go take a shower first.
"You smell of sweat," Yan Xun said. "Go take a shower."
Gui Yuchong reached out and smelled himself... He looked at Yan Xun uncertainly, but finally nodded honestly.
As soon as he entered the bathroom, Yan Xun immediately went to their bedroom.
He first looked down under the bed, but there was nothing there.
Then I went to look at the wardrobe—
The room was crammed full of clothes, and Yan Xun squatted down to search carefully—
What are you looking for?
Gui Yuchong appeared at the bedroom door at some point.
He only had a towel wrapped around his waist, and his head was still wet, indicating that he had just turned on the shower and walked out of the bathroom.
Yan Xun was still squatting in front of the wardrobe, rummaging through it. "I'm looking for a change of clothes for later." He turned to look at Gui Yuchong. "What are you doing out here?"
"I realized I forgot my clothes." Gui Yuchong smiled somewhat embarrassedly, and then slowly walked to Yan Xun's side in Yan Xun's sight.
The bedroom wasn't very big, and the wardrobe was already at the foot of the bed. When Yan Xun squatted down to look through the wardrobe, he felt his knees hitting the edge of the wardrobe and his lower back bumping against the foot of the bed... As Gui Yuchong approached, the space became even more cramped.
He walked to Yan Xun's side and bent down.
Yan Xun avoided eye contact, but even so, the other person had just come out of the bathroom and naturally had some moisture on their body.
Especially when he lowered his head, some water droplets dripped onto Yan Xun's clothes.
Gui Yuchong seemed to notice this, and he hurriedly looked up, wanting to apologize to Yan Xun, but found that Yan Xun simply looked away from him.
"Hurry up."
He crouched in the gap between the foot of the bed and the wardrobe, his wrists resting on his knees. Perhaps to make it easier for Gui Yuchong to find clothes, he shifted to the other side a little further.
Golden hair fell over his shoulder. He glanced impatiently at the dazed Gui Yuchong. "Can't find any clothes?"
As Yan Xun spoke, he took a T-shirt and pants out of the closet, "Take the rest yourself."
Gui Yuchong reached out and took the clothes Yan Xun handed him. It was a very thin light gray T-shirt. His hands were wet, and when he picked up the T-shirt, a corner of it inevitably changed color. So he casually put it on the bed.
From his angle, he could see Yan Xun's drooping eyelashes, the black hair on his head, and the arm resting on his knee.
The other person probably doesn't go out in the sun much; his skin has an unhealthy pallor, and the dark circles under his eyes are quite noticeable... He looked up at Gui Yuchong, his face showing a listless, half-dead expression, "Still haven't found it?"
Gui Yuchong looked at him for a while, then suddenly said—
"Actually, you are very good-looking."
Yan Xun: "...?"
Has this person gone mad?
"So you're sure to find a romantic partner who won't be cursed by you."
Yan Xun: "..."
He looked at Gui Yuchong, whose expression was sincere, with a complicated expression, and said, "Then let me thank you first... for your blessing?"
He couldn't tell whether Gui Yuchong's words were a blessing or a curse.
Gui Yuchong smiled upon hearing this, "It's alright."
"You're so kind, you'll definitely find someone."
