Chapter 147 Encountering a Monster
Chapter 147 Encountering a Monster
She knew that beneath these beautiful exteriors could be hidden deadly dangers. Her eyes were always alert to her surroundings, and her ears were keenly alert to any unusual sounds.
As we went deeper into the mountains, the light gradually became dim and the air was filled with a damp smell.
Lan Yunyan lit a torch to dispel the darkness and fog around her. The flames danced, illuminating the path ahead and providing her with a little warmth.
As night fell, Lan Yunyan found a relatively flat place to set up camp.
She built a simple shelter of rocks and branches to protect her from the cold and wild animals that might descend at night. After securing her camp, she lit a fire and began preparing dinner.
The flames danced, illuminating Lan Yunyan's face. After dinner, Lan Yunyan did not rest immediately.
She sat by the campfire, playing with a smooth stone in her hand, her thoughts drifting far away.
Flames danced in her eyes, as if telling ancient stories.
The stone seemed to be glowing faintly in the light of the fire, like a mysterious token, drawing her memories to surge.
She thought of the past, of Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er, and wondered how they were doing. Were they okay?
The corners of Lan Yunyan's mouth unconsciously rose, revealing a warm smile.
She remembered playing with Yun Mengyao by the stream, the sun shining on them and their laughter echoing throughout the valley.
Yun Mengyao's lively and playful appearance always brings her endless joy.
And there was Lin Wan'er, that gentle and kind woman. They had once looked up at the stars together on quiet nights, and every word Lin Wan'er said was like a spring breeze, making her feel extremely comfortable and at ease.
The time they spent together was the most precious treasure in her life.
Lan Yunyan gently stroked the stone in her hand, a hint of longing in her eyes. How she wished she could see them again. However, she also understood that she was now on a path that belonged to her.
She looked at the dancing flames and silently wished Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er well in her heart. She hoped that everything would be well for them in their lives, that they could pursue their dreams and find their own happiness.
As the night deepened, the surrounding forest grew even quieter. Occasionally, the growls of wild animals could be heard in the distance, but Lan Yunyan was not frightened.
Suddenly, a low roar broke the silence, and the ground trembled slightly.
Lan Yunyan's heart tightened, and she looked around warily. She saw a huge monster rushing out from the bushes nearby.
This monster looks like a tiger, but is several times larger than an ordinary tiger. Its body is covered with black, hard hair like steel needles, and it gleams with a metallic luster.
Its eyes were like two balls of burning green flames, revealing ferocity and violence. Its bloody mouth was filled with sharp fangs, dripping with sickening saliva, and each tooth seemed capable of easily tearing its prey into pieces.
Lan Yunyan quickly took a few steps back, steadied her body, and subconsciously grasped the glass sword at her waist with her right hand.
There was no fear in her eyes, instead, a strong fighting spirit was ignited. The monster did not give her much time to prepare, and pounced on her in an instant.
It brought with it a gust of wind, as fast as lightning, and in the blink of an eye it was in front of Lan Yunyan. Lan Yunyan dodged to the side, and the monster's claws brushed past her clothes, bringing with them a gust of wind.
The monster became even angrier after missing the first attack. It turned around and pounced on Lan Yunyan again.
Lan Yunyan seized the opportunity and at the moment the monster pounced, she lightly tapped her feet, jumped to the tree trunk beside her, and then used the force to kick and stab the monster's back.
Her sword flashed coldly in the sunlight and stabbed at the monster like a bolt of lightning.
However, the monster seemed to sense the danger. It shook its body violently, and the hard hair on its back stood up like sharp arrows. Lan Yunyan's sword was blocked by the hard hair and deviated from its direction, leaving only a shallow scar on the monster's back.
The monster felt pain and let out a deafening roar. It swung its body wildly, trying to shake Lan Yunyan off.
Lan Yunyan gripped the hilt of the sword tightly, clamped her legs around the monster's back, and tried to maintain her balance.
Seeing that it couldn't shake her off, the monster began to rampage through the forest, trying to knock Lan Yunyan off with trees and rocks. Lan Yunyan bounced up and down on the monster's back, but never let go.
She looked for the monster's weakness, her eyes fixed on its head and neck.
Finally, when the monster passed by a big tree, Lan Yunyan seized the opportunity, released one hand, grabbed a thick branch, and then swung it hard, her body soaring into the air and flying towards the monster's head.
She adjusted her posture in the air, holding the sword with both hands, and stabbed the monster's eyes with all her strength. The monster sensed the danger and wanted to dodge, but it was too late.
Lan Yunyan's sword accurately pierced one of the monster's eyes, and black blood immediately gushed out.
The monster howled in pain, shaking its head wildly and thrashing around.
Lan Yunyan took the opportunity to jump off the monster and landed on the open space beside it. The monster had lost an eye, and its vision was severely affected. It became even more violent and crazy.
It rushed towards Lan Yunyan desperately, opened its bloody mouth and wanted to swallow her in one bite.
Lan Yunyan stood in place, looking at the monster rushing towards her. She gathered all her soul power into her sword, and the sword emitted a dazzling light.
Just as the monster was about to approach her, Lan Yunyan suddenly rushed forward. Her body passed through the monster's claws like a flash of lightning. Then she jumped high, holding the sword in both hands, and stabbed it into the monster's neck from top to bottom.
The monster's body suddenly stiffened, then slowly fell down, making a last dull sound.
Lan Yunyan stood beside the monster's corpse, breathing heavily, her clothes soaked with sweat.
"Ah!!" a cry of pain was heard.
