Chapter 757: Why Do This (3)
When Dong Xin Yan groggily awoke, everything before her eyes was pitch black.
She kept her eyes open and it took a while for her to realize that it wasn’t nighttime, but rather there was a black cloth tied over her eyes.
She moved her body slightly, her hands and feet were also bound, rendering her completely immobile.
She could only feel herself lying down, with what seemed like a bed beneath her.
She struggled, trying to break free from the ropes, but it was all in vain; the more she struggled, the tighter the restraints became.
Dong Xin Yan lay there powerless, her mind racing to recall what had happened.
She remembered that after having a phone call with Xin Ruo yesterday, she continued driving, and when she got to a slightly remote path, a car suddenly sprang out from a side road. She didn’t have time to brake, and the car just crashed as it did.
Then, when she was discussing responsibility and compensation with the car owner, someone appeared behind her, pressing a white cloth over her mouth and nose. She couldn’t react in time, and everything went black before she lost all consciousness.
So... had she been kidnapped?
Was that car accident a deliberate act as well?
But she hadn’t made any enemies with anyone. Who would take such a big risk to kidnap her? Or was it not someone familiar, just her bad luck to be targeted by villains?
As Dong Xin Yan pondered, footsteps approached from far to near, slowly coming towards her.
Blindfolded, she couldn’t see a thing, so her other senses were exceptionally sharp. She immediately held her breath, pricking up her ears to listen to the sounds.
The footsteps came closer, and then she heard the sound of a door being pushed open. After that, the footsteps echoed again; she sensed someone had come to her side, with their gaze falling on her face.
Dong Xin Yan dared not move, pretending to still be sound asleep.
The person watched her not waking up, didn’t linger any longer, and quickly turned away, conveniently closing the door behind them.
It seemed there was another person outside. After the first person left, they exchanged a few words with the other person, which Dong Xin Yan strained to hear, but she could only make out a few words.
After their conversation, the two walked away together, restoring silence to the surroundings.
Dong Xin Yan lay there, taking a deep breath, organizing her thoughts.
She was confined alone in a room, with at least two people guarding her, and those two... seemed to be foreigners, speaking English. Then she heard words like "tonight" and "plane".
She could now be sure that this kidnapping was not the work of strangers acting on impulse but done by someone familiar.
But who could this familiar person be?
They kidnapped her but didn’t hurt her, and then the mention of a plane...
Dong Xin Yan’s eyes sharpened; could it be Madam Gu? Unwilling for her to be with Gu Ningyi, so forcing her away?
No, that’s not right.
If Madam Gu wanted to do such a thing, she wouldn’t have needed to invite her for afternoon tea last time and say those words. Besides, she wanted her to back down, not provoke her son.
But if it’s not Madam Gu, who else could it be?
Who wants to kidnap her? Who wants to send her away?
The more Dong Xin Yan thought about it, the more uncertain she felt, her body beginning to tremble slightly; humans have an unconscious fear of the unknown.
What to do? What should she do?
She’s been kidnapped; does Gu Ningyi know? Will he come to rescue her? What will happen to her? Will she never see him again?
-
Gu Ningyi had the villa’s surveillance checked; Dong Xin Yan drove away from the villa a little after eleven yesterday morning.
