Chapter 417 A Small Lesson
Chapter 417 A Small Lesson
The next morning, as dawn broke, Xu Yi watched as Sanchuan and Sihai finished washing up, prepared breakfast for the two children, and calculated the exact time.
Uncle Li's boat should have already set sail by now, and Aunt Li must have gone to the river to wash clothes with a wooden basin.
"Big Sister Sanchuan, watch over your brother! I'm going out for a bit."
Xu Yiyi then picked up a piece of cake, stuffed it into her mouth, and walked briskly outside.
Sihai was slurping rice noodles from his large bowl when he saw his older sister leave, and his eyes widened in surprise.
"Are you going to Aunt Li's house, big sister? I want to go too," Sihai asked curiously.
San Chuan glanced at him sideways, then stood up and pulled Wu Yuan, who was sucking his little hand, into his arms: "Eat yours! Why are you so curious?"
Sihai snorted and obediently buried his head in eating his rice noodles.
When Xu Yiyi arrived at the Li family's courtyard, it was indeed empty, with only a few small birds pecking at the scattered grains of rice.
She stepped over the threshold and went inside. Just then, an impatient shout broke the morning's tranquility from the east wing: "Yuanbao? Where have you been? Are you deaf? Bring me a bowl of water! I'm dying of thirst!"
Li Xiuying lay on the bed, cursing and swearing.
The courtyard remained empty, and no one responded.
Xu Yiyi smiled faintly and walked slowly to the door.
She leaned against the door frame, her arms crossed over her chest, looking inside with a leisurely air.
Inside the room, the person lying on the bed was frowning, his face full of anger with nowhere to vent it. Just as he was about to curse, his eyes suddenly caught sight of a figure at the door.
The anger on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a guilty conscience.
Li Xiuying subconsciously sat up straight on the bed.
This movement directly aggravated the wound on her calf, causing her to gasp in pain and turn pale instantly. Li Xiuying avoided eye contact and quickly wrapped her calf with a blanket.
Xu Yiyi stood at the door and took in her series of reactions, her face still maintaining a half-smile.
"What are you doing here?" Li Xiuying finally couldn't stand the silence and spoke first.
Xu Yi stared intently at her: "Why are you so angry so early in the morning? You can't even get a drink of water from me?"
She met Li Xiuying's gaze and slowly walked in to the bedside.
His gaze lingered on the leg in Li Xiuying's hand.
"I haven't asked you yet, what happened to your leg?" Xu Yiyi smiled, but upon closer inspection, her eyes were cold and devoid of any smile.
Her eyes darted around, avoiding Xu Yiyi's gaze, and she mumbled, "Ah? It's nothing, I just accidentally fell yesterday."
"He fell? Did he really fall?"
Xu Yi raised an eyebrow, looking down at her with a half-smile.
Li Xiuying was provoked by her reaction and suddenly raised her voice: "Of course it's true...would I lie..."
Before she finished speaking, Xu Yiyi took something out of her chest.
In an instant, Li Xiuying's eyes were filled with nothing but terror.
As dawn broke, the pale golden veil seemed to be overturned, spreading throughout the room through the window lattice.
Countless fine dust particles danced in the air. If Li Xiuying hadn't shown that look of fear on her face, what a peaceful and warm scene it would have been!
Unfortunately, Li Xiuying ruined the harmony of the whole scene.
Xu Yiyi stood by the bed, a strip of red and green floral patterned cloth held in her slender fingers, hanging in mid-air and swaying slowly.
Just as Li Xiuying was about to lean against the wall, she was so frightened by Xu Yiyi's actions that she froze on the bed, unable to move.
She held one end of the strip of cloth and gently pressed it against Li Xiuying's exposed neck. The faint itch caused tiny goosebumps to rise on her skin.
Xu Yiyi gestured very slowly and carefully, as if she were measuring a fragile piece of porcelain.
The strip of cloth slid along the clear curve of Li Xiuying's collarbone, then went around her shoulder and lingered above her chest.
"This color really suits you!" Xu Yiyi lowered her eyes, her voice so soft it sounded like a sigh. "I must say, your fiancé has a good eye for shopping."
She paused, then placed the strip of cloth against her throat, pressing it down gently.
But that was enough to frighten Li Xiuying.
She tried to look away, but her eyes seemed glued to the bright colors of the cloth strip.
After a long while, Li Xiuying finally came to her senses, pulled the gag out of her throat, and forced a smile: "I don't know what you're talking about?"
"Don't know?" Xu Yiyi suddenly sat on the bed, her voice soft as if shrouded in morning mist, yet chilling to the bone.
"That can't be right! You know too much, you're sweating so much because you're afraid of it."
Xu Yiyi shook her head and said jokingly. Only then did Li Xiuying realize that in just a few breaths, her clothes were already soaked with cold sweat.
Where are the keys?
Xu Yiyi's smile vanished completely, and she stretched out her hand in front of Li Xiuying.
"I...I don't know what you're talking about?" Li Xiuying turned her head. The key, which she had kept close to her body inside her clothes, had long been warmed by her body heat, but now it only felt cold to her.
"Let me tell you, I didn't expose you in front of everyone on the island because of Uncle Li and Aunt Li's sake." Xu Yiyi smiled meaningfully at her. "You should be secretly happy!"
As she spoke, Xu Yiyi then lifted the thin blanket wrapped around Li Xiuying's calves.
The wound above had already begun to bleed. Looking at her calf, Xu Yiyi pressed down without hesitation. The wound instantly bled bright red blood, and a suppressed cry of pain was locked in her throat.
"Wow! You're pretty good at holding back."
Xu Yiyi praised it, then increased the intensity.
It wasn't until Li Xiuying couldn't help but hand over the key.
"Why don't you just take it out? Why be so stubborn?" Xu Yiyi snorted and snatched the key back.
"Now that you've got the keys back, tell me what you'd like to get from my place?"
Xu Yiyi gently stroked Li Xiuying's wound, the gesture appearing rather ambiguous.
“I didn’t take anything! Really, I swear.”
Li Xiuying's tone was one of utter despair, clearly indicating that she was quite frightened by Xu Yiyi's actions.
"I was asking if you wanted anything? Hmm?"
Xu Yiyi repeated the question in a very good manner.
Li Xiuying suddenly felt the pressure on her leg was wrong: "I'm just curious! I'm curious about what was in the bundle you brought back with that old man that day, I'm really just curious."
Li Xiuying shrank back and moved her legs away, looking at Xu Yiyi as if she were a monster.
"That's really the case."
Xu Yiyi understood, and put her hand on Li Xiuying's calf again: "I'll let it go this time, but I really won't be polite next time."
After saying that, Xu Yi slowly stood up and glanced down at Li Xiuying's calves.
"It's just a small lesson, I hope you'll learn from it and stop bothering me." Xu Yiyi took out a handkerchief and wiped all the blood off her hands.
