Chapter 243 A Lin Daiyu Fell From the Sky
Chapter 243 A Lin Daiyu Fell From the Sky
Upon hearing this, Lin Yue snatched the mung bean cake back and hugged it to her chest.
"Thank you then."
Song Huan's face turned red again, from her neck to the tips of her ears.
He lowered his head and stammered, "Then...then I'll be going now."
He turned around hastily, but hadn't even taken a step.
"It's raining so hard, where are you going?"
Lin Yue's voice came from behind.
Song Huan scratched his head and turned back.
Lin Yue rolled her eyes at him, a roll that was full of charm.
"Come stay at my place for a while. My house is nearby. We can go back when the rain stops."
Song Huan was taken aback. "This...this isn't quite right, is it?"
"I'm a woman and I'm not afraid, so what are you, a man, afraid of?"
Lin Yue looked at his face, which was so red it looked like it was about to explode, and found it really funny.
Song Huan scratched his head, blushing, and remained silent.
Lin Yue rented a room in a nearby residential building. It was an old neighborhood, and half of the lights in the stairwell were broken, and the paint on the walls had peeled off, exposing the red bricks underneath.
But the rent is cheap, and it's a one-bedroom apartment that's quite spacious.
The room was sparsely furnished: a bed, a table, a wardrobe, and a small refrigerator—everything was kept simple.
Song Huan followed Lin Yue inside. Seeing the clean floor, she immediately took off her shoes and left them outside, stepping barefoot on the cool cement floor.
Lin Yue also took off her high heels, put on slippers, rummaged through the shoe cabinet and took out a pair of fluffy slippers, which she threw on the ground.
"Wear this."
Song Huan looked down and saw a pink rabbit on the slipper. It had two long, upright ears, round eyes, a crooked mouth, and a sly grin.
These must be Lin Yue's warm slippers for winter.
He hesitated for a moment, then slipped his foot in and found it actually looked quite nice.
"Sit down." Lin Yue gestured towards the sofa with her lips.
Song Huan sat down, only half of her bottom on the ground, her back straight, her hands on her knees, as if waiting for the teacher to call her name.
Lin Yue leaned against the refrigerator, watching him.
"Are you hungry? What would you like to eat?"
Song Huan shook her head, not daring to look her in the eye, "I...I'm not hungry."
Lin Yue suddenly leaned over, bent down, and blinked.
"Are you always this shy when talking to girls?"
Her face was very close to his, close enough that he could smell her fragrance.
It wasn't perfume; it was her natural scent, mixed with a hint of cigarette smoke.
Song Huan's heart pounded. She lowered her head and said shyly, "No, nothing."
Lin Yue's lips curled up slightly, like a little fox. "So you're only shy with me?"
Song Huan suddenly raised her head, her eyes filled with shock and shyness.
Lin Yue saw that he had been fooled and couldn't help but laugh. Her laughter was so bright and beautiful.
She patted him on the shoulder, like patting a younger brother, "Alright, alright, be braver with girls next time. Otherwise, you won't be able to hold onto the person you like."
She turned and walked to the refrigerator, then opened it.
The refrigerator was empty except for a few eggs and a handful of noodles, lying on the bottom shelf.
She took out the eggs and noodles and placed them on the table. "That's all we have. Please make do with this. I'll cook for you next time you come."
"You can cook?"
Song Huan grew bolder and looked up at her.
Lin Yue turned to look at him and asked curiously, "Can't you cook?"
Song Huan shook her head.
Lin Yue sighed earnestly, "To win a woman's heart, you must first win her stomach. Learn to cook well; no woman will refuse a boyfriend who cooks well."
She paused, then added deliberately, "Including your... Su Wanqing."
Su Wanqing.
Song Huan's eyes flickered, as if she had been pricked by a needle.
He didn't say anything.
Lin Yue went to the kitchen to cook noodles.
The kitchen is very small; the stove can only hold one pot, and the faucet makes a squeaking sound when turned on.
Song Huan sat on the sofa, feeling extremely uncomfortable. She didn't know where to put her hands or feet, and her gaze wandered around, eventually landing on the cabinet next to her.
There's a school badge on the counter, with a white background, blue lettering, and a photo printed on it.
He curiously craned his neck to see the words on it.
Lin Yue, Department of Performing Arts, Nanjiang Academy of Arts.
The noodles were cooked quickly.
Two bowls, clear broth with a few scallions floating on top, and a poached egg lying on top.
It was still raining outside, and the raindrops were hitting the window with a pattering sound.
The two sat at the dining table, listening to the rain outside the window, eating hot noodles.
Lin Yue ate noodles and the mung bean cake he bought at the same time. She took a bite, chewed it a couple of times, and nodded.
"It really is quite delicious."
Hearing her say it was delicious, Song Huan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The atmosphere at the dinner table was slightly awkward.
Song Huan lowered her head, poked at the noodles in her bowl with her chopsticks, and asked a question in a low voice.
"Excuse me, are you a student at Nanjing University of the Arts?"
Lin Yue was eating mung bean cake elegantly, taking a small bite and chewing slowly, as if she were savoring some delicacy.
She hadn't expected him to ask that, and nodded.
"Yes, I'm a sophomore too."
For some reason, Song Huan felt relieved when she learned that she was a sophomore.
It felt as if this beautiful, aloof woman had become a little closer to me.
"So what month is your birthday?" he asked again.
Lin Yue looked up at him and said, "Me? I was born in June."
Song Huan was delighted, her eyes lighting up. "Then I was born in May, so I'm a bit older than you."
His beaming face looked like he'd found money.
Lin Yue suppressed a laugh and looked at him. "So? Are you happy that you can be my brother, or happy that a little sister like Lin has fallen from the sky?"
"Well……"
Song Huan's expression froze instantly.
He didn't have that idea.
This woman has a sharp tongue; I can't win an argument with her no matter what I do.
Lin Yue couldn't help but burst out laughing when she saw his stiff expression.
"You're so naive. No wonder Su Wanqing doesn't like you."
"Could we not talk about this..." Song Huan's voice lowered.
"Why can't I say it? Did you delete her when you went back?"
"no."
"Why not delete her?" Lin Yue asked, looking shocked.
With a sorrowful expression, Song Huan slowly spoke, "Because she deleted me first."
Lin Yue couldn't hold back any longer and laughed so hard she almost dropped the mung bean cake in her hand.
Song Huan was so embarrassed that she wanted to disappear into the bowl, burying her face in it as if she wanted to bury her head in it.
Lin Yue finished laughing, wiped her eyes, suppressed her laughter, and looked at him seriously.
"Then let me ask you, do you still like her?"
Song Huan looked down at the noodles in the bowl; the noodles had clumped together and were stuck in a mushy mess.
"I have no idea."
"So how did you feel when you found out she deleted you?"
"I feel like dying..."
Lin Yue smirked. "Damn, is it really that bad?"
She thought for a moment, then spoke again, "As the saying goes, those involved are often confused, while bystanders see things clearly. I feel you still like her."
Song Huan gave a bitter laugh, a laugh that was more like a grimace. "But what can we do? She already has a boyfriend."
"What's there to be afraid of if you have a boyfriend?"
Lin Yue put the mung bean cake on the table, and her eyes lit up.
"Isn't a goal scored with a goalkeeper more exciting?"
Song Huan was stunned. She looked up at her in shock.
What kind of utter illogical nonsense is this?
Lin Yue became more and more excited as she spoke, leaning forward and resting her hands on the table, as if she were talking about some earth-shattering plan.
"I saw that guy the other day, and he's obviously no good. Su Wanqing and he will definitely break up in a few days, and that will be your chance! You just need to take advantage of her vulnerability, comfort her, and your love with her will be a piece of cake!"
Song Huan was stunned. "But isn't that a bit immoral? I like her, shouldn't I want her to be happy? Why would I want her to break up?"
Lin Yue was stunned when she heard his naive and innocent words, then shook her head violently and raised her voice.
"Because if you like a woman, you have to fight for her!"
She clenched her fist, her expression domineering. "You need to tell yourself that no man in this world, except yourself, can bring that woman happiness!"
Song Huan was captivated by her aura, and her heart skipped a beat.
But soon, he slumped down again, his shoulders drooping like a deflated balloon.
"But I don't think I can give her happiness either. I'm poor, not tall or handsome, I don't have many advantages..."
Lin Yue stuffed the mung bean cake in her hand into her mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and waved her hand indistinctly.
"No, you have another advantage."
Song Huan's eyes widened. "What advantages?"
"honest."
After Lin Yue finished speaking, she couldn't help but laugh.
Her eyes curved into crescent moons as she laughed, and her shoulders shook as she laughed.
Song Huan stared at her smile, stunned.
The rain was still falling outside the window, pattering against the glass.
