Chapter 3 The Clown's Escape
Chapter 3 The Clown's Escape
"Brilliant!" The Joker clapped his cuffed hands, the metal handcuffs clanging. "Excellent! You read my script? Or are you writing your own version?"
Batman didn't laugh. He stared at Levi for two seconds, then turned to the Joker: "Is what he said true?"
"Who knows? Perhaps this... prophet has some special information channels."
In the interrogation room, the Joker shrugged: "Or maybe he just guessed right."
Although the Joker's answer was vague, Batman already understood.
"Gordon, I'll go to 52nd Street, you go to Cicero Avenue X. Split up, let's go now!"
Those who stay behind, keep an eye on this scoundrel; I'll be back to deal with him!
After Batman finished speaking, he rushed out of the police station in a hurry.
Gordon arranged for men to guard the Joker, and then led a team out of the police station in a hurry.
After Batman and Gordon left, the entire office area fell silent, and a prompt appeared in Levi's mind at the right time.
[Player has been detected to have altered the game's storyline. Reputation has increased significantly, currently at 200 points.]
[Reputation value exceeded 200 points; two free attribute points awarded]
Before Li Wei could examine the effects of attribute points in detail, he looked up and was met with the clown's amused gaze.
"Prophet, I must admit, your analysis makes a lot of sense."
The clown licked his lips with his scarlet tongue: "We'll continue to deal with each other, Mr. Prophet."
I've become interested in you; our game has just begun.
After the clown finished speaking, a police officer walked past Levi into the interrogation room and then closed the door.
Thinking of the clown's fearless demeanor, Li Wei felt as if he had forgotten some crucial information.
This guy has already been arrested, so where does he get the confidence to talk to me like this?
It had been so long since he'd seen this scene that Li Wei couldn't immediately recall what the Joker would do next.
But when he thought of the clown's fearless demeanor in the interrogation room, a vague sense of unease crept into his heart.
"I want...I want to...I need to make a phone call."
Outside the interrogation room, the clown's neurotic ramblings came through the communicator, catching Li Wei's attention.
"Dream on." The police officer standing in front of the interrogation room's iron door directly rejected the Joker's request.
"How many of your friends did I kill?"
The clown started to get close to the police officer, but when he saw the officer's expression suddenly change, Li Wei sensed something was wrong.
Meanwhile, at the temporary detention area on the other side of the police station, a fat man clung to the iron bars, pleading with the police officers.
"Please, my stomach hurts so much."
"What's it to me? Go back!"
"The boss said he'd make those voices disappear. He said he'd go in and replace them with light, like at Christmas..."
The fat man spoke, letting out a nervous laugh.
However, not long after, the fat man collapsed to the ground unconscious.
The boss the fat man mentioned was none other than the clown who was currently being held in the interrogation room.
Through the single-pane glass of the interrogation room, Levi saw the police officer, enraged by the clown, slowly approach the clown after taking off his coat.
For some reason, he instinctively felt that something was wrong.
The clown couldn't quite remember how he escaped the police station after so much time had passed.
Looking up again, he saw that the police officer had been taken hostage by the clown, with a knife held to the officer's neck.
With just a little force, the clown could kill the police officer.
As the clown opened the iron door of the interrogation room and walked out, Li Wei immediately found a corner that he thought was relatively safe.
"Don't do anything rash, put down your weapons!"
"I'm reaping what I sowed, shoot! Kill him!"
"I just want my phone back."
After a period of commotion, the clown finally made his request.
Cell phone...make a call...
With these two keywords, Li Wei finally remembered what the clown wanted to do.
He was going to use his phone to detonate a bomb hidden in his subordinate's stomach!
"Don't give it to him, it's a trap!"
Just as Li Wei shouted out, he saw the police officer confronting the clown throw his phone.
The small black phone landed in the clown's hand, and the guy even had time to turn around and glance at Li Wei, a triumphant smile on his face.
"Prophet, we will continue to deal with each other."
As the clown spoke, he pressed the dial button.
"Everyone, lie down immediately!"
Knowing what was about to happen, Li Wei shouted a warning, then squatted down behind a safe.
Amidst the bewildered gazes of the officers, a massive explosion erupted behind them, engulfing several officers instantly.
After the explosion, only the Joker remained standing in the same spot.
The police station was thrown into chaos, with screams and wails echoing throughout the entire facility.
"Prophet, we will meet again."
The clown looked in Levi's direction, a neurotic smile on his face, and then rushed out of the police station.
Although Li Wei had already squatted down, his physical condition was not very good, and he felt dizzy at the moment.
However, the Joker bypassed him, which was somewhat unexpected.
Soon, the sound of police cars starting up could be heard downstairs, and Li Wei knew that the clown had escaped.
A commotion ensued, and the police station descended into chaos.
All the officers who were able to move rushed out to chase the Joker.
The remaining officers were either injured or completely unrecognizable, reduced to clumps of flesh that needed to be pieced together to barely make out human form.
Suppressing his nausea, Li Wei began to help the injured police officers.
After finishing everything and looking at the mess in the police station, Li Wei had a very direct understanding of the chaos in Gotham.
Listening to the police officers' wails, Li Wei leaned against the wall and suddenly felt a wave of exhaustion.
The adrenaline was subsiding, and my hands began to tremble slightly.
Although he appeared to be in complete control just now, only he knows how nervous he really was inside.
It's impossible not to feel pressured when facing a neurotic clown.
He seems to have changed the first key point: Rachel should still be alive, Harvey wasn't disfigured, and the tragedy of Two-Face shouldn't happen again.
But the Joker's words, "We'll continue to deal with each other," pierced his heart like a thorn.
In this game, knowing the storyline is an advantage, but it can quickly turn into a disadvantage.
You never know how the script will be rewritten after you change the first act.
If the plot changes, but his mindset hasn't, it will have terrifying consequences.
Just as Li Wei was pondering what changes might occur in the plot, he suddenly heard a loud explosion coming from the communicator on the table.
After the huge explosion, a commotion ensued.
"Headquarters! Headquarters! An explosion has occurred on Cicero X Avenue, and Harvey has been affected!"
We need medical support! I repeat, we need medical support!
Hearing the shouts coming from the communicator, Li Wei slumped against the wall.
I thought the plot would take a huge turn, that he had successfully rewritten the fate of some people.
However, it now seems that the plot has an incredibly strong inertia.
An explosion did occur, and it affected Harvey. Hopefully, his face is alright.
Leaning against the wall, lost in thought, Li Wei fell asleep without realizing it; he was simply too tired from the day.
After an unknown amount of time, Li Wei was woken up.
Hey, buddy.
The young police officer walked over, woke the sleeping Li Wei, and looked at him with a complicated expression:
"Chief...Chief Gordon wants to see you in his office."
Li Wei nodded, got up, and followed the police officer into the depths of the corridor.
Outside the window, the Gotham night sky had no stars, only the ever-burning neon lights.
