Chapter 15 Digger Yan Huai
Chapter 15 Digger Yan Huai
Yan Huai glanced at Wu Sansheng, Da Pan, and Da Kui, who had already started using Luoyang shovels. Under the cover of his backpack, he scratched the mud on the ground in frustration.
"System, will my hand turn into claws in a minute?"
"Host, so far, no, you can rest assured."
"Since you won't tell me the reason, you should at least tell me how to alleviate it!"
"Enter the tomb, or use the blood of the Qilin to suppress it."
Yan Huai frowned, turned to look at Zhang Qiling who was sitting not far away, seemingly lost in thought, and rejected the idea without hesitation: "No way! I'll just chop off these two hands!"
However, the sad truth is that in the short time he was talking to the system, Yan Huai had already scratched a half-sized hole in the bottom of his backpack. Judging by this efficiency, it would be a waste not to go and help Wu Sansheng and the others, because even this hole didn't keep him quiet for long.
The next moment, Yan Huai wrinkled his nose, looking like he was about to get restless again. Just as he was covering up the mud he had just dug out and was about to get up and move to another spot, something suddenly happened on Wu Sansheng's side.
Yan Huai endured the pricking sensation in his hand and went closer to take a look. It turned out that the soil brought out by the pulled-out Luoyang shovel looked like it was dripping blood.
Yan Huai didn't know what this meant, but seeing the surprised and serious expressions on everyone's faces, he understood that they were probably in trouble.
"Third Master?" Da Pan looked at Wu Sansheng, waiting for his decision.
"We're already here, let's dig it open first!"
Having been in the martial arts world for so many years, Wu Sansheng certainly has that much courage. Besides, they also have Zhang Qiling and Yan Huai, whom they can still trust, in their group. Even if they encounter any demons or monsters, they can risk their lives to make them suffer.
Yan Huai watched the group get busy again, his gaze sweeping curiously back and forth. He reached out and took off the Buddhist prayer beads from his wrist, crumpling them into a ball and kneading them, switching them back and forth between his left and right hands like a madman. He had just asked the system, and it said the prayer beads wouldn't break.
Hearing this somewhat tooth-aching noise, Wu Xie looked up at Yan Huai and saw him looking interested but seemingly confused. He smiled and said, "Brother Yan, what my third uncle and his team are doing now is called tomb location. They can draw the approximate outline of the tomb based on the smell of the soil brought out by the Luoyang shovel."
"The smell..." Yan Huai, who had just dug in the soil, smelled his hands. Apart from a muddy smell and a smell that he inexplicably loathed, he could not smell anything else, let alone locate the cave.
Yan Huai watched for a while longer and noticed that after Wu Sansheng smelled the odor, he connected the holes he had dug in the ground. The order seemed to be significant. And not long after, just as Wu Xie had said, the outline of an ancient tomb appeared on the ground. It was quite large and included an underground palace.
Wu Sansheng squatted down and gestured with his hands to determine the approximate location of the tomb entrance. Then he called Da Pan and Da Kui to start digging down.
"How could a Warring States period tomb have an underground palace with a brick roof...?"
Wu Xie muttered something, which Yan Huai could hear but couldn't understand. He looked at the group of people digging the hole, his hands itching. He reached behind him and realized that there didn't seem to be a shovel in the backpack Zhang Qiling had given him. Then he looked at Wu Sansheng, who looked quite old.
"Third Uncle, you rest! I'll do it!"
Yan Huai put his Buddhist prayer beads back on, only removing the large bag from his back. The branding knife was still tied properly. Without saying a word, he ran over and snatched the whirlwind shovel from Wu Sansheng's hand, but he might have accidentally used a little too much force.
In short, Wu Sansheng was knocked off balance by Yan Huai and almost sat on the cigarette butt he had just thrown away, while the culprit had already started digging along the newly opened dent!
Apart from Zhang Qiling, everyone else was stunned by Yan Huai's move. In the end, it was only after Wu Sansheng shouted that the digging work could continue.
Before long, the pit under their feet—yes, it was a pit—Da Pan and Da Kui no longer wanted to admit that they had initially dug it following the pattern of a tomb raider's tunnel. With Yan Huai's involvement, it wasn't exactly a mess, but it was truly indescribable that they couldn't get started.
In the end, Da Pan and Da Kui's job was basically to prevent the pit from collapsing. They had watched Yan Huai, this superhuman, dig out all that soil, which was seven or eight meters deep!
After digging down another meter or so, Yan Huai heard the sound of viscous liquid flowing. He frowned and subconsciously lightened the pressure in his hands.
Immediately afterward, Yan Huai's whirlwind shovel hit the stone bricks. He moved it outward by half an inch, and after he had dug out the entire wall made of stone bricks, he said to Da Pan and Da Kui behind him, "That's enough."
"Brother Yan, you're amazing!" Da Pan was already grinning from ear to ear. He patted Yan Huai on the shoulder, seemingly having long forgotten about Yan Huai's eye problem. "I'll go call Third Master and the others down right now!"
Yan Huai waved his hand, his attention remaining fixed on the brick wall in front of him. Seeing this, Da Kui walked over and asked, "Brother Yan, is there something wrong with this wall?"
“There’s something in the wall,” Yan Huai leaned the whirlwind shovel aside, wiping the sweat from his face onto his thin jacket. He felt the weight of the branding knife on his back and remembered that he had a large bag on it that he needed to retrieve. However, looking at Da Kui, who was eager to try, he was a little worried and reminded him, “Don’t touch anything!”
Da Kui nodded like a chick pecking at rice, watching Yan Huai leave.
However, even though the warning had been given in advance, there were still many people who didn't believe it. They had just agreed, but when Yan Huai and the others returned, they found Da Kui banging and knocking on the stone bricks.
"do not move!"
Yan Huai and Zhang Qiling spoke at the same time, startling the others, including Da Kui. He remained frozen in front of the brick wall, his hand raised, not daring to move, until Zhang Qiling walked over and pulled him away. The look in Zhang Qiling's eyes was as if she was sending him to see his great-grandmother!
