Chapter 44: A Strategy Change, Top Lane Sion
Chapter 44: A Strategy Change, Top Lane Sion
IG Club Base.
Karam leaned back in his chair, staring at the computer screen.
IG lost, and he should have been the one who was happy.
But he just couldn't be happy.
He is a professional coach, and unlike spectators, he doesn't just focus on winning or losing when watching games.
The entire IG team has made significant changes in their game decisions, and even he felt a sense of enlightenment.
How did they manage to do that in just a few days?
Karam smiled and said, "It's true that there have been changes, but the time frame is too short. It's already quite good that we've achieved this much."
"EDG's steady and methodical approach won't give you that kind of opportunity."
......
The entrance to the IG lounge.
Why do you all look so heavy-hearted?
Seeing the players return dejected, Chen Song patted TheShy, who was at the front, and said with a smile, "Let's go back to the rest room first."
The players' chairs were lined up in a row, with Chen Song standing in the middle. He first turned his gaze to TheShy: "Shy, you played well in lane. But you forgot something very important."
"Coach... I'm sorry."
TheShy looked apologetic.
"Sorry is no use. I don't want to see the same mistake again. You'll have to prove me wrong next time."
Chen Song said with a cold face.
"I promise!"
The direct cause of EDG's first collapse was the failed tower dive in the bottom lane. After that, EDG's snowball effect grew bigger and bigger.
However, the kill ratio of 3:17 is a significant difference.
"That tower dive in the bottom lane was a bit too hasty; they should at least have ensured their own condition first."
Chen Song scanned the contestants.
"My bad, my bad. I was too hasty in directing that wave."
JackeyLove took the initiative to shoulder the responsibility.
He was indeed a bit anxious about this tower dive, and overlooked the fact that the crocodile had a Teleport.
I didn't expect Meiko's Lux to hold me under the tower for so long.
"I think I played really badly."
Forge spoke quietly.
"You don't need to rush to take the lead. To be fair, JackeyLove, your command performance in the last game was commendable. Keep it up in the next game."
Chen Song gave his approval.
Halftime break was short.
The players from both sides returned to the stage. Compared to the lighthearted expressions of the EDG players, the IG players looked much more serious.
"Alright viewers, welcome back to the scene. Now it's time for the second match between IG and EDG. EDG has chosen the red side for the second match and will not switch sides."
After the doll finished speaking, Miller naturally chimed in: "I feel that those who are now actively choosing the red side are all very confident in their abilities."
"I'll give you my version of the OP, but I play more flexibly."
Doll disagreed: "What overpowered heroes are being released for you these days?"
"It's Aatrox, Sylas!"
"Just ban it outright!"
"I mean we'll let one go, but I'm confident I can handle you. That's the attitude EDG is putting on in this match. I'm just in good form right now, there's nothing I can do about it."
"With Doritos by our side, we begin the second round."
After the doll smoothly typed "GG," the screen switched to the BP interface.
IG, on the blue side, banned Yuumi and Olaf in their first and second bans respectively, while EDG, on the red side, banned Aatrox and JackryLove's Draven.
"Banning Draven is fine, IG banned Sylas themselves."
The doll was somewhat surprised.
Sylas is an extremely overpowered champion in this patch. Given that IG was on the blue side and picked him first, did they think Sylas was a patch trap?
Banning Olaf is understandable. In the last game, Jiejie's Olaf performed very well in the jungle, especially after gaining an advantage, IG couldn't stop Olaf's attacks at all.
"EDG bans Neeko? Then I think IG could pick Irelia first, that would be a good choice," Miller offered his opinion.
"Even Nicole is banned? They don't think I'm a disciple of Karam, do they?"
Chen Song smiled and said, "Let's take Piggy first. Ning, are you okay with that?"
"Absolutely no problem."
Ning smiled.
"Jayce + Irelia, looks like they gained confidence last game."
Chen Song said in Korean, "Ning, let's get the Crocodile first, and then we'll see if we need to switch later."
"For AD, Forge should give JackeyLove Sivir."
EDG's third pick was Xayah for their AD carry.
"I feel like they're going for Xayah and Rakan, I think we should ban Rakan."
JackeyLove couldn't help but remind her, knowing all too well how strong Xayah and Rakan were in lane.
"Turn off Lux and Rakan."
After Chen Song finished speaking with certainty, JackeyLove was the most pleasantly surprised.
In his recent matches, he played Lux and had a really tough time with her.
The key issue is that these Lux players are all incredibly awful.
"Damn it, you're showing off your dead body here. If you've got the guts, go ahead and take it. I'll smash your head to pieces."
Ning was furious when he thought about how the prince had beaten Olaf in the last game.
Despite the hype surrounding "Brother Liang," EDG ultimately secured the Spider jungle champion.
"In that case, how about we get a Titan?"
Chen Song then joked, "Shy, how about teaching the enemy top laner how to play Riven?"
"I think it's okay."
Baolan playfully revealed Riven.
"I think it would be nice to get Sion for me."
TheShy glanced at Chen Song: "If they pick Sion, they simply can't break through."
"Sean is good."
Chen Song nodded.
"Sion? IG probably won't take him."
Miller was somewhat surprised.
"I have to say, we have to give IG's new coach a thumbs up for that Sion pick."
"Because he discovered that the opposing team's lineup is not strong against the front line. EDG has a three-AD lineup, so if I pick an incredibly tanky top and jungle, then EDG will be unable to withstand it in the mid-game."
When IG picked Sion as their last pick, not only the commentators, but also the retired players and other viewers watching the match were pleasantly surprised.
TheShy's Sion has had some memorable moments.
And just as Wawa and Miller analyzed, EDG's lineup of three AD carries made it difficult for them to break through IG's four front-line tanks in the mid-game.
"I think IG's coach was really daring to draft this lineup."
"Coach Karam's style has always been very biased towards TheShy gaining an advantage in the laning phase with this kind of champion."
"Since he took over, he has rarely given TheShy tanky top lane champions like Sion."
"And this new coach made a change for TheShy, giving TheShy a super tank."
"It's also possible that TheShy wanted to pick it himself, thinking that this lineup would be stronger if he picked it this way."
"I think Irelia's performance will be very limited against IG's lineup."
Miller and the doll had a heated discussion.
The final lineups for both sides have been determined.
Blue side IG: Top lane Sion, Jungle Sejuani, Mid lane Renekton, Bot lane Sivir + Nautilus.
Red team EDG: Top lane Irelia, Jungle Elise, Mid lane Jayce, Bot lane Xayah + Alistar.
"I think IG's lineup change is quite good. Let's look forward to how this lineup performs. I personally have high hopes for this lineup."
