Chapter 59 The Old House
Chapter 59 The Old House
A slight smile played on my lips, my eyes revealing a hint of disdain and authority. I said coldly, "Go back and tell those troublemakers, if you have the guts, come at me! Stop hiding and sneaking around all day. If I catch them doing something wrong, hmph, don't blame me for being ruthless. I'll make sure they wish they were dead!" With that, I crossed my arms and stood proudly in place.
The man in black robes was clearly intimidated by my imposing presence. He struggled to his feet and, without even brushing off the dust, slunk away like a stray dog.
Watching his departing figure, I sneered inwardly. These clowns, they really have nothing better to do than think about what they're doing all day.
Wen Xingyu looked at me with concern, "Sister Chuyue, is it really okay to just let him go like this?"
I smiled slightly and reassured him, "Don't worry, he's just a small fry. The real trouble comes from those behind him."
After saying this, I thought to myself that when I first came to this world, I was quite satisfied with my life, and the mission was progressing in an orderly manner. But why are so many things developing in a magical direction?
I thought I was here on vacation, but as time quietly passed, some unexpected things began to happen.
The city, which once seemed ordinary and unremarkable, is gradually revealing its true and mysterious side.
Those hidden, unknown forces seemed to be summoned by some force, and they all surfaced.
In a short time, all sorts of strange and monstrous things sprang up like mushrooms after rain, leaving people overwhelmed.
Faced with this sudden change, I couldn't help but feel a strong sense of confusion and unease.
I had originally hoped to have more leisure time to enjoy life and relax, but now it seems that such a wish has become unattainable.
Every moment presents new challenges and crises, leaving no time to attend to anything else.
It felt like being caught in a relentless storm, powerless to control your own destiny, forced to passively deal with the various situations that followed.
After the incident with the man in black robes, I tried to minimize going out and suppress my spiritual energy fluctuations in the days that followed.
But the peace didn't last long, as masters from all over came knocking on their door.
Wen Xingyu and the others always take the lead, but I know I can't always rely on them to stop these people; troublesome things always need to be resolved.
So I decided to take the initiative and negotiate with the leaders of those forces that were secretly stirring up trouble.
I found out through various channels the residence of a suspected leader of a faction; it was an old house located deep in the mountains.
I passed the message on to Xu Yan, since this matter was also related to them.
Xu Yan arrived quickly to meet me after receiving the news.
We set off together into the deep mountains and forests.
The atmosphere was oppressive, like the calm before a storm.
Upon arriving at the old house, we found the gate tightly shut, and an eerie atmosphere permeated the surroundings.
My figure moved silently, appearing and disappearing without a trace, like a ghost. I went first into the old house to investigate the situation, while Xu Yan and the others waited outside to see what would happen.
The room was dimly lit, but there were faint voices speaking.
I followed the sound and saw a man dressed in ancient costume muttering to himself while looking at a portrait.
Before I could even speak, he noticed my arrival, slowly turned around, and looked at me with a cold gaze.
"How did you get in? What do you want?" he asked.
“I want to talk and stop the conflict you’ve started,” I said, looking him straight in the eye.
He sneered, "Who do you think you are? This world should have changed long ago. We've been hiding for years, and it's time for us to step into the limelight."
I gave a sarcastic look and said sternly, "Don't you know who I am? You even sent people to kill me a few days ago, and you've already forgotten!"
"I don't understand what you're talking about. I advise you to go back to where you came from. I don't want to kill anyone today."
Just then, the sound of fighting suddenly came from outside, it seemed that Xu Yan and the others had started fighting with the guards outside the old house.
I frowned, thinking that I had to finish this quickly.
I released a wisp of spiritual energy to intimidate him, "If you don't stop now, today will be your death day."
The man's expression changed slightly, and he fell into deep thought, creating a tense atmosphere.
The man suddenly threw his head back and laughed loudly, "You think you can scare me with this little bit of spiritual power? But since you have some courage, I can listen to your conditions."
I said calmly, "As long as you stop stirring up trouble, stop harming innocent people, and stop investigating the source of my spiritual power, the past will be wiped clean, and we can all live in peace."
The man narrowed his eyes. "That sounds tempting, but what if I say no?"
The words had barely left his mouth when the fighting outside intensified.
A wicked smile crept across my lips as I threatened, "Then don't blame me for being impolite. Once we start fighting, this place will be a river of blood. Are you sure you want to go that far?"
The man remained silent for a moment, his eyes flickering uncertainly.
I raised my spiritual power to another level, and a powerful aura instantly enveloped the man. "Last chance, agree or disagree?"
The man felt an unprecedented sense of pressure and finally nodded helplessly, "Fine, I agree to what you said! Is that alright?"
I withdrew my spiritual power because he was perceptive.
The man shouted outside, and the fighting outside stopped abruptly.
"I hope you keep your promise, or you know what I'm capable of." I said, then prepared to leave.
As soon as she stepped out of the old house, Xu Yan came up to her, "Boss lady, are you alright? How did the negotiations go!"
I shook my head. "It's temporarily resolved."
However, a few days later, some strange rumors began to circulate in the city. Some people said they saw figures in ancient costumes flying through the air at night, while others said they heard mysterious whispers.
A surge of anger rose within me. Had they not truly given up?
I decided to investigate secretly, so I took Wen Xingyu to the vicinity of the old house.
A faint mist hung around the old house, giving it an eerie feel.
Suddenly, the man they had seen that day walked out of the old house with a half-smile on his face.
I snorted coldly, "Just as I thought, these untrustworthy guys."
Wen Xingyu clenched her fist. "Sister Yuechu, there's no need to waste words with him. Just take action."
I gently shook my head, my brows furrowing slightly, and fell into a brief moment of contemplation.
After a while, I slowly spoke, "Don't rush, let's observe first and see what they want to do. Look at the exquisite tea set in this courtyard, they obviously have something to discuss today. Take a closer look later and see if you can recognize these people." After saying that, my gaze fell on the exquisite tea set again, and I secretly speculated about what was about to happen.
After listening to my words, Wen Xingyu nodded thoughtfully, indicating that she understood what I meant.
She also turned her gaze to the group of people in the courtyard, her eyes revealing a hint of curiosity and wariness.
