Traveling to ancient times, with space

Chapter 5 The Eight Trigrams of the Qian Family Mansion

Chapter 5 The Eight Trigrams of the Qian Family Mansion

After leaving the house, Su Yue headed straight for the town.

The original owner had been to the town.

Before the original owner's father died, he took Xiao Suyue there many times.

The original owner's memory was quite good; she could still remember the roads clearly.

Along the way, Su Yue didn't encounter any oxcarts carrying passengers. It wasn't until almost noon that she finally saw the town gate in the distance.

Luckily, I had two bowls of porridge and some cornbread in the morning, otherwise I wouldn't have had the strength to walk to town.

Upon entering the town, it wasn't as bustling as Su Yue had imagined; it wasn't even as lively as a typical modern market.

However, for this remote town, this is already quite good.

As soon as Su Yue entered the town, she saw an old man squatting by the roadside selling baskets, hampers, and other similar items.

I spent ten copper coins to buy a basket.

Then, I bought six sesame seed cakes from an old lady who sells them for five coins.

Eat and stroll at the same time.

After exploring the town to her heart's content, Su Yue went to a seed shop she had her eye on and bought some seeds that could be planted in her spatial dimension.

The genes of the Chinese people will not allow even a tiny bit of arable land to be wasted.

When the seed shop owner saw someone walk into the shop, he quickly greeted her with a smile: "Young lady, what kind of seeds would you like to buy? Our shop has the best and most complete selection of seeds in town."

The shopkeeper of the seed shop did not look down on Su Yue because of her tattered clothes.

Su Yue admired the seed shop owner for this; he deserved to be rich and able to open a shop.

"Shopkeeper, I'd like some grain seeds and some vegetable seeds. You have some of both here." As long as Su Yue has a few seeds, she can plant them in her space and save them for future use.

The shopkeeper patiently explained, "Young lady, look here are some common vegetables you can easily find, like scallions, ginger, garlic, cabbage, radishes..."

Here are some seeds of rice, millet, sorghum, wheat, and beans. See how much of these you need.

"Shopkeeper, I'd like a little of every kind of rapeseed, as well as rice, sorghum, wheat, and bean seeds, all of the same amount, is that alright?" Su Yue gestured with her small hands to show the shopkeeper.

In these years of severe drought, where can we find irrigated land to grow vegetables and grains?

The shopkeeper assumed she was just a young girl who came in to ask questions for fun, but he never expected she would actually come to buy seeds.

Fearing that the little girl might be stealing money from adults to squander, he asked her again carefully.

After confirming the details, they packed some of each item for Su Yue. Finally, Su Yue gritted her teeth and counted out two hundred copper coins from the basket.

Su Yue felt a pang of heartache at spending so much money all at once, and more importantly, she was panicking because she had no money in her pocket!

After putting the seeds in her basket, Su Yue planned to find a place to eat, and then enter her space to plant the seeds.

The sooner you plant it, the sooner it will sprout, and you won't have to worry about starving to death in this cannibalistic ancient world.

After leaving the seed shop, Su Yue turned a corner and saw a noodle stall.

A few people sat in twos and threes at the noodle stall, not in a hurry to eat, and whispered gossip around a table.

Su Yue became interested as soon as she saw someone gossiping.

Sit down, order a bowl of noodles, and listen attentively.

One person exclaimed in surprise, then asked the person opposite, "Brother Li, where did you hear all this from? I've never heard of it before."

The man called Brother Li looked around and, finding no one watching him, whispered, "Hey, Brother Zhao, you don't know this. There aren't many wealthy families in this small town. Go out and ask around, and you'll know if what I'm saying is true."

After his initial surprise, Zhao Luren wore a gossipy expression, even more so than Su Yue.

"According to you, Master Qian is practically halfway to his coffin, yet he can still bring a concubine into his mansion. He's truly a romantic even in death!"

After saying that, he smiled enviously, seemingly oblivious to what was going on.

"This Master Qian has already brought three concubines into his mansion this month to bring him good luck. They were all carried in upright in the morning and carried out horizontally in the middle of the night. They died such horrible deaths!" Brother Li said, waving his hand.

"What a tragedy! Such a beautiful young woman lost her life like this." Zhao Luren, who had just been envious, suddenly became filled with sorrow and pity.

"It's nothing. I heard from the people from our village who work for the Qian family that they came back and said..."

These past few days, the Qian family has consulted an old Taoist priest to calculate the horoscopes of their children. They've also sent people to the villages below to find someone with a strong horoscope, so that when the auspicious day arrives in a few days, they can bring that person into the mansion to bring good fortune to Master Qian once again.” Brother Li finished speaking with a sigh of regret.

Before Su Yue could listen any further, the gossiping group got up, paid their coins, and left laughing and talking.

Just then, the noodle stall owner brought over the noodles that Su Yue had ordered.

Su Yue had already digested the porridge she drank that morning. Even though she had just eaten a sesame seed cake, her mouth was still watering at the sight of the white flour noodles.

Ignoring the heat, they ate it in big bites.

He looked like a starving ghost.

The noodle stall owner wasn't surprised by this way of eating; he'd seen it done several times in the past few days.

After finishing a bowl of noodles, Su Yue felt alive again, but she was still not full.

After paying four copper coins, he asked the noodle stall owner where Qianfu was.

The noodle stall owner gave Su Yue directions and then continued kneading his dough.

Having sold noodles in this town for many years, he knew he couldn't meddle in other people's business. He couldn't just say whatever others were asking or looking at.

They figured the girl had overheard their conversation and was curious, which was why she was asking about the Qian residence.

Even if they didn't say it, the Qian family was famous in the town; anyone you stopped would know about them.

Su Yue noted down the route the shopkeeper had given her. After thanking the shopkeeper, she planned to visit the Qian residence.

Su Yue suspected that her second uncle had sold her to the Qian family.

I thought Uncle Su still had some conscience, but I never expected he'd really been bitten by a dog; he's a heartless, rotten bastard.

Even though she hated the original owner of the body, she was also the orphan of her brother. So she sold a half-dead woman who wanted the girl's life to prolong her own.

Damn it, thinking back to the beating I got this morning, I didn't give it enough. When I get back, I'll give it a few more beatings to really get revenge for the original owner.

Su Yue made her way through a maze of twists and turns to the front of the Qian residence, where she looked at the imposing gate that was tightly shut.

They didn't linger long; it was just past noon, and there were still quite a few people on the road.

Even if she were to do something, she would wait until nightfall, when it was dark and windy, to make her move.

Su Yue began to stroll along the wall of the Qian residence, looking for the best spot to enter the residence at night. She then found a secluded corner and entered the space.

Su Yue was overjoyed when she entered the space.

The wild vegetables that Wang Xiaohua and I dug up on the mountain this morning have already flowered and borne seeds, and have fallen to the ground, sprouting into a large patch of tiny tender shoots.

Looking at the delightful wild vegetables, Su Yue felt a little more at ease in this ancient world; at least she didn't have to worry about starving to death.
