Chapter 160: Completion

Chapter 160: Completion

She's been busy with her own things these past few days and hasn't paid much attention to the business. However, the winery is almost finished, and she's been there supervising the construction every day.

The vessels have all been washed and placed in the warehouse, and the broken ones have been sent for repair. All that's left is to wait for the winery to succeed.

Seeing this progress, her dream of becoming a little rich woman would be one step closer once she succeeded. She patted her belly with great satisfaction, as if she were rolling in money.

Lu Yu came over from behind, and seeing her so happy, he couldn't help but feel even more pleased.

"You're here!" She was also a little excited, then pointed to the winery that was almost completed and happily talked about the future she envisioned, "Once the factory is successful, we can start to expand our business. Look, it'll be successful soon. Once it's successful, we'll bring all the people over. Then we can increase production."

“It is indeed very good.” He took out two pieces of paper from behind his back and placed them in her hand, adding, “These are the betrothal gifts to make up for the shortfall; there will be more in the future.”

Those two pieces of paper were nothing other than two land deeds, deeds to two different mountain villas. Ji Meiqing glanced at them, her eyes practically drilling a hole through them.

"Where did you get the land deed and house deed?" she asked, both excited and calm.

Lu Yu said, "I went to the auction house today and then bought it. I think it's worth it. If I need to go somewhere else in the future, I can stay there or rent it out."

"Not bad, not bad, you've improved." She patted his shoulder and praised him, "Let's keep doing this, and together we'll earn all the money in the world."

Looking at her enthusiastic expression, Lu Yu was somewhat dazed, but the affection in his eyes could not be concealed.

Ji Meiqing put the things into his arms, then pulled him toward the winery machine. There were so many things piled up outside that it was hard to walk, but they still went around them anyway.

The room was spacious, and your voice would echo. Ji Meiqing called out, then looked at Lu Yu, "What do you think?"

"It's alright." After looking around, he asked again, "Where's the wine?"

Ji Meiqing didn't say anything, but mysteriously pulled him to a corner where there was a wooden board. Ji Meiqing said helplessly, "Because it's not finished yet, we can only use wooden boards to block it up for now."

She moved the wooden plank aside, revealing the dark hole.

"Come here." She went up the stairs first, followed by the path, which was even colder inside. She held a tinderbox in her hand, and after burning it for a while, it began to flicker.

Once downstairs, she fumbled to light an oil lamp, and the place was finally illuminated. The cellar was roughly the size of two basketball courts; who knows how much wine it could hold.

"This is where the wine is stored." She wandered around the area, noting that pillars had been erected underneath to prevent collapse. Then she thought of another spot and pulled him to the other side.

She lit the oil lamp beside her with a tinderbox, then blew it out and put it in her arms. She looked at Lu Yu and said, "Hold me."

Lu Yu did as he asked and picked her up. She wasn't tall enough, so she could only rely on Lu Yu's strength.

After untying the bolt, Ji Meiqing managed to hold on for a while before Lu Yu carried her back a bit.

The door opening created a small topic of conversation. She went to the back and pushed a triangular platform in, then ran to Lu Yu, looking at him as if showing off or asking for a reward, and said, "From now on, when they transport wine, they can come in like this. As for some more, we can only buy them when we have a lot of money."

“That’s good enough.” He patted her on the shoulder.

Ji Meiqing felt somewhat aggrieved, "You didn't praise me."

"I..." Before she could finish speaking, the bottom door beside her suddenly broke off, one edge sticking up. Lu Yu immediately grabbed her and stood in front of her.

The wooden plank came crashing down again, heading straight for them. Lu Yu carried her forward a couple of steps. The wooden door, as if it had eyes, slid down from above, making a loud noise.

They didn't know if anyone outside was listening. Something had happened here, and they were forced into a corner. Ji Meiqing had been protected the whole time, so nothing bad happened to her.

The world seemed to freeze for a moment, and all that could be heard was the steady, powerful, and rapid beating of his heart. It sounded as if it would burst forth at any instant.

Although he could clearly hear the tension in his voice, Lu Yu remained calm. "Don't come to these dangerous places again. If I hadn't been here, something bad might have happened today."

"Okay." She tugged at his collar and said playfully, "You seem really worried about me."

"Mm." He nodded sincerely, his heart racing again, and Ji Meiqing's smile widened even more.

"I'm sorry to have worried you." She leaned against his chest and said slowly, "It shouldn't happen again next time."

"I don't want you to do it again. Don't go there if it's dangerous in the future."

She nodded gently, a warmth inexplicably welling up inside her. It was the first time someone had cared about her, and that gave her existence meaning. Her heart raced for no apparent reason; this feeling was irresistible.

Back on the ground, Ji Meiqing was clearly happier than before, dragging Lu Yu around like a child.

Once she got home, she collapsed onto the bed, too exhausted to move.

"The goods we promised the Jiang family will be delivered in ten days," Lu Yu suddenly interrupted her calm.

She waved her hand dismissively and said directly, "The inventory here should be enough. As for the winery, it will be operational next month."

Lu Yu went out and brought back ginger soup, helped her up, and fed her. She was completely exhausted, unable to move her hands or feet.

"Okay. Drink it quickly." He urged her, as if afraid that she would get sick if she drank the ginger soup too late. Ji Meiqing looked at the tension in his eyes and couldn't help but smile.

After she finished drinking the ginger soup, her shoes were taken off, and she was covered with a blanket. Knowing that she was tired, she was told to rest well.

"I feel like a rare national animal now, being pampered by you every day."

"Don't you like it?" Lu Yu glanced at her and tucked the blanket over her.

Ji Meiqing shook her head. "It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I find it strange."

Lu Yu didn't say anything, covered her with the blanket, and left. The room fell silent again, and she calmed down as well.

All she could think about was Lu Yu. She was overjoyed because of him. People are easily moved, and even the smallest things seemed to help her slowly lower her guard around him.

Outside, Lu Yu held the rabbit fur pelt that had just been delivered, thinking of making a hand warmer for her. The weather was getting colder and colder; he'd have to get her a new hand warmer.
