Chapter 2919 - 2449: A Woman’s Intuition is Quite Accurate
"Do you have something you want to tell me?" Ashton Heath glanced at her and rubbed her head. "I feel like you have a different opinion about all this."
"Not really a different opinion." Joanna Lawrence thought for a moment and then said, "Do you remember the auction party we went to together that night?"
"Auction party?" Ashton Heath thought for a moment and nodded, "Yes, I remember. What about it?"
"That night at the banquet, I saw my brother, Gary, acting intimate with a very attractive-looking young lady. I have a feeling that their relationship is not ordinary, especially the way Gary looked at that young lady. I think they must have a story."
Ashton Heath raised his eyebrows: "So?"
"Last time I heard Gary mentioning, the girlfriend he brought back this time should not be the young lady from that auction night."
"I think I understand now." Ashton Heath smiled, his deep black eyes full of gentle laughter, "You think that the girlfriend Gary brought back this time may not be the one he genuinely likes?"
"The woman from the auction party that night is the one he truly loves?"
Joanna Lawrence pursed her lips, and after a while, nodded her head: "I have thought about that."
Why did she think so?
Perhaps it was a woman’s intuition.
Many times, a woman’s intuition is quite accurate.
"Baby, how many men and women who like each other do you think can end up together in the end? Or, among married men and women, how many of them are married and have families because they are in love with each other?" Ashton Heath asked with a smile.
"Huh?" Joanna Lawrence was startled, thinking seriously for a while before shaking her head and answering, "I don’t know. But, I have read some news articles that have compiled relevant data, and it seems that... the percentage of people who marry out of love is the minority."
"Most of them are together because they are a good match."
"Yes, that’s the reality." Ashton Heath seemed to be analyzing the situation for her, "Not to mention anything else, just within our circle, people value matching in social and economic status and the benefits that come from powerful alliances more than the so-called love."
"Even if there is love, if the family backgrounds are unequal, the elders of the family will not agree."
"Even if they are in love, in the end, one party will always compromise due to reality."
Joanna Lawrence was startled for a few seconds, she looked up at the man beside her and blinked, "But Joanna and Ashton, and Aria and Brandon, we are not together for benefits, are we?"
"That’s because Brandon and I can live without relying on our families. So, we can consider our parents’ opinions, but we don’t have to listen to them. My and Brandon’s decisions are not hindered by them."
"So, we can do anything we want following our heart."
"But such situations are the minority in our circle. Most people’s marriages are still arranged by their families. Take Yannick, for example, doesn’t he seem to be carefree and free, enjoying his time every day? But he can’t make decisions about his marriage unless he abandons his current status and the privileged life his family brings him."
Joanna Lawrence bit her lip: "But I think Gary can make his own decisions. And our parents are not picky, they don’t necessarily require a match in social and economic status."
"Gary indeed has the power to decide his own marriage." Ashton Heath agreed with her, but then said, "However, the person he wants to choose may not be willing to choose him."
