Chapter 295 Getting better
Chapter 295 Getting better
"Sister Rongyue, today's meal is delicious. You'll definitely like it if you try it." Yuyan sat beside Rongyue's bed and looked at her. She picked up an exquisite lunch box and put it in front of Rongyue's nose.
"Be good, eat something so you can get better faster." Mo Chen said as he gently placed the spoon against Rongyue's lips.
Rongyue frowned, but still opened her mouth.
The rice entered Rongyue's mouth and was spat out before she could swallow it.
The originally white spoonful of rice was spit back into Rongyue's hand and turned into bloody rice stained with red blood.
After Mo Chen cleaned Rongyue's hands, he saw that the gauze on her hands was stained red.
"Open your mouth and let me see where it's broken?" Mo Chen stroked Rongyue's face.
Rongyue obediently opened her mouth for Mo Chen to see.
Mo Chen checked carefully. When he saw the wounds on Rongyue's tongue, his heart ached again.
"If you feel uncomfortable in the future, just tell me. Don't bite yourself anymore, okay?" Mo Chen touched Rongyue's face gently.
Rongyue nodded.
Rongyue's mother Shen Manning looked at Rongyue. She covered her mouth to stop herself from crying and quickly turned around and left the ward. Rongyue's father Nangong Junyan glanced at Rongyue and followed Shen Manning out of the ward.
"Don't cry, it will be fine." Nangong Junyan blinked away the pain in his eyes and patted Shen Manning gently.
"Aunt, Sister Rongyue has started to get better. At least now she doesn't reject us and can listen to Brother Mo Chen. She is doing so well. We have to be stronger to take good care of her, right?" Yuyan comforted Shen Manning.
Shen Manning wiped her tears and nodded, "...I...I want to go back and make some porridge and soup for Rongyue, at least she won't feel so much pain after drinking it..."
"Okay, let's go now and make something for her and send it back." Nangong Junyan glanced at Yuyan and said, "I'll leave this to you first. Call us if there's anything going on."
"It's my duty. Don't worry, uncle and aunt." Yuyan watched the two people walk away. She turned her head to look at Rongyue in the ward. In the past few days since she woke up, Rongyue was basically not afraid of their touch. She could listen carefully to what they said and would have some reaction. The injuries on her body healed miraculously quickly. Now she can even walk around with the support of Mo Chen.
It’s just that sometimes Rongyue would suddenly feel uncontrollably uncomfortable because she had been injected with cocaine before, and the bite marks in her mouth were probably caused by herself during an attack.
Mo Chen never left Rongyue and took good care of her. Although Rongyue hadn't spoken a word since she woke up, Mo Chen seemed to have endless things to say to her and kept chatting with her. As a result, Rongyue gradually began to respond to the outside world.
"How were you today?" Li Xin walked over and looked at Yu Yan who was standing outside the ward.
Yuyan came back to her senses and smiled at Li Xin, "It gets better every day."
Li Xin and Yu Yan walked into the ward.
Mo Chen was changing the gauze on Rongyue's hand. Now Mo Chen could disinfect and apply medicine to Rongyue's wounds himself.
Rongyue just sat there quietly, still looking towards the window, as if she was always looking at the light.
Li Xin walked closer to Rongyue and looked into her eyes. They were still the same as when she woke up.
Li Xin glanced at Mo Chen.
Mo Chen shook his head.
Li Xin sat beside Rongyue's bed.
When Rongyue heard the voice, she turned around and looked in the direction of Li Xin.
"I have good news, do you want to hear it?" Li Xin looked at Rongyue.
Rongyue nodded.
“You’ve won another award.”
Rongyue's eyes flickered.
When Li Xin and Mo Chen saw Rong Yue's expression, they looked at each other.
"Come on, guess what prize you won." Li Xin looked at Rongyue with a smile.
Rongyue shook her head.
Li Xin took out his mobile phone and played a video of someone reading out the list of winners, from the Excellence Award to the Gold Award.
Rongyue listened carefully to her name. The last winner of the five gold medals was Rongyue's name.
"Did you hear that?" Li Xin turned off the video and looked at Rongyue.
Rongyue nodded and then lowered her head and remained silent.
Li Xin frowned and looked at Mo Chen. The two of them didn't know whether to say words of celebration or words of comfort.
"My eyes..."
When Li Xin and Mo Chen heard Rongyue's voice, they both looked at Rongyue in surprise. This was the first time she spoke since she woke up.
"Rongyue, what did you just say..." Mo Chen grabbed Rongyue's hand.
Both of them waited quietly for Rongyue to continue speaking.
Rongyue pursed her lips and said, "Will my eyes be okay..."
When Li Xin and Mo Chen heard Rong Yue's words, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yes! Definitely!" Mo Chen held Rongyue's hand tightly.
"Don't comfort me, I want to hear the truth." Rongyue replied in a low voice.
"I'll call a doctor for you now. Please listen to what the doctor says."
After saying this, Li Xin went to find a doctor.
After the doctor examined Rongyue, he asked, "Your eyes can sense light, right?"
Rongyue nodded.
“What you can mostly see is what color it is.”
"Red and black." Rongyue responded.
The doctor nodded. "Your eyes are not physically blind. It's more of a psychological reason."
Rongyue nodded
"Then I need to see a psychiatrist."
The doctor looked at Mo Chen and saw Mo Chen nodded, "Then I'll ask her to come over now."
The doctor walked out of the ward.
"Do you want to take a rest before seeing the psychologist?" Mo Chen hugged Rongyue.
Rongyue shook her head.
"Well... the psychologist hasn't come yet, how about drinking some soup to replenish your energy?" Mo Chen picked up the soup bowl and scooped a small spoonful of soup. "It's been left to dry for quite a while, and now the temperature is just right."
Rongyue drank a spoonful and found the temperature was just right, neither too hot nor too cold. Rongyue swallowed the soup.
Mo Chen observed Rongyue. This was the only time that Rongyue did not vomit out the food she had eaten since she woke up.
Mo Chen smiled and quickly scooped another spoonful to feed Rongyue, who obediently drank the soup again.
Shen Manning watched Rongyue drink the soup. She quickly wiped away her tears, opened the dried vegetable porridge and handed it to Mo Chen.
Mo Chen looked at Shen Manning and was about to speak, but Shen Manning made a gesture to keep quiet. She shook her head at Mo Chen, put the porridge in Mo Chen's hand, then retreated to Nangong Junyan's side and continued to look at Rongyue.
Mo Chen understood that Shen Manning was afraid that Rongyue would reject them, so when they arrived they told him not to let Rongyue know they were there. They just wanted to accompany Rongyue silently.
Mo Chen scooped a spoonful of porridge, tested the temperature, and brought it to Rongyue's mouth. "This is porridge, try it."
Rongyue drank it.
Everyone in the ward was happy that Rongyue could eat smoothly.
Even the psychologist who came in was silently waiting for Rongyue to finish her meal.
"Psychogenic blindness is related to your inability to face reality. It may be caused by you not wanting to see certain situations in reality or not wanting to see certain people. Do you remember the moment you discovered that you couldn't see?" The psychologist sat on the chair beside Rongyue's bed and asked Rongyue in a gentle tone.
Rongyue nodded.
"Can you give me a rough description of what happened before and after you became blind?"
Rongyue swallowed and became obviously nervous.
Mo Chen frowned and looked at the psychologist.
The psychologist glanced at Mo Chen calmly and gestured to him to calm down.
Rongyue lowered her head and was silent for a while. "I want to... talk to you alone."
The psychiatrist stayed in the ward, and the others were in the lounge separated from the ward by a door. This door had a window that could see into the ward, and Mo Chen leaned against the door and looked at Rong Yue in the ward.
"Uncle and aunt Qin are here again today. The old man of the Qin family almost went back to his country to find grandpa. Qin Huaiyi's condition is getting worse and worse, and he is also hospitalized here now." Li Xin looked at Mo Chen.
Shen Manning held back her tears. "I can save her, but I just want her to suffer more! If Mo Chen hadn't discovered the thing she put there in time, Rongyue would have been in trouble! Why do they want to kill my daughter so easily!"
"Why..." Shen Manning covered her face with her hands, her shoulders twitching.
"Aunt Shen, we feel the same as you, but now we are looking for the person who instructed Qin Huaiyi. He is hiding in the dark. If we don't find him, even if it's not Qin Huaiyi, it could be someone else who will come to harm Rongyue. Cutting the grass without removing the roots will not solve the problem." Li Xin sat next to Shen Manning.
Shen Manning tidied herself up and looked at Li Xin. "I only have one question. Was the incident with Rongyue also caused by Qin Huaiyi?"
"No." Li Xin looked at Shen Manning with certainty.
"So, there are other people who want Rongyue dead?" Shen Manning frowned and looked at Li Xin.
Li Xin sighed and nodded.
"We don't know if the person who instigated Qin Huaiyi is the same person who bribed Austin this time. We have to find out one by one."
Shen Manning was silent for a moment. "After the doctor finishes explaining Rongyue's condition, we will go with you to Qin Huaiyi's place."
Li Xin nodded and said, "Aunt Shen, don't worry. We will not let go of everything that Rongyue has gone through. We will settle every one of them and pay them back double!"
The gentleness in Li Xin's eyes faded, leaving only a cold light.
After talking with Rongyue, the psychologist came to the lounge.
"How is it?" Mo Chen looked at the doctor.
Everyone else looked at the doctor.
"Has she ever experienced something similar before that caused her depression?" The doctor looked at Mo Chen.
"Yes." Mo Chen nodded.
Nangong Junyan and Shen Manning were a little shocked when they heard Mo Chen's words.
"Can you tell me the specific reason?"
Mo Chen briefly explained what happened to Rongyue during her junior year.
As Shen Manning listened to Mo Chen's talk, she couldn't stop crying again. She had never thought that Rongyue would encounter such a thing. No wonder Rongyue didn't accept them. A girl encountered such a thing and had no relatives or friends to turn to for help. What kind of parents were they?
Nangong Junyan hugged Shen Manning and tilted his head back to prevent the tears that had been welling up in his eyes from falling out.
Yuyan was also shocked by Rongyue's experience. She had never realized that Rongyue, who was always gentle and open-minded, had experienced something that made her feel suffocated. She walked to Shen Manning and gently comforted her.
After listening to Mo Chen's story, the doctor asked, "Did you receive treatment for depression that time? Is it cured?"
Mo Chen shook his head. "She took some medicine but she didn't feel well so she stopped. After that she said she forgot a lot of things."
The doctor frowned and asked, "Did she ever have suicidal thoughts?"
Mo Chen nodded. "She probably thought about it, but she had to take care of her grandmother at that time, so she survived..."
"Did she show any signs of self-destruction when you found her?"
As Mo Chen listened to the doctor's questions, he thought of what happened that day and suddenly felt his throat choked with discomfort. Mo Chen lowered his head and took a deep breath to slow down.
"Yes." Li Xin patted Mo Chen and answered the doctor.
"Then what stopped her?" The doctor looked at Li Xin.
"She said she couldn't tell whether it was a hallucination or not. I told her some things that only we knew and played the children's videos for her." Li Xin looked at the doctor.
The doctor nodded. "In fact, her previous depression was not cured. No matter what means she used, she concealed and avoided the problem, but the psychological problem was not resolved. This is like planting a bomb. Many patients with depression are like normal people. However, sudden events will directly cause the disease and the original psychological problems to overlap, just like a fuse that detonates the bomb, so the condition will suddenly worsen, and even extreme physiological reactions will occur. Just like your lover's sudden blindness now."
"Blindness is only the most obvious physiological reaction at present. In fact, there may be other manifestations that you have not noticed."
"What is it?" Mo Chen frowned.
