Chapter 1851 Greedy Expectations
Chapter 1851 Greedy Expectations
Yueyao paused, her tone turning cold, before continuing.
"You should all know about the Fallen Star Wasteland."
"A crucial element of our cooperation with the Silent Zen Temple has been destroyed, the evil spirit has gone out of control, and the offerings have been stolen. Although the Silent Zen Temple hasn't officially launched an attack yet, the losses are real. Their venerable one will likely not let this go unpunished."
Yue Qingshuang said coldly, "According to the disciples who escaped, the attackers used strange methods. Some were proficient in spatial magic, while others were skilled in life purification and fire. They cooperated well and were extremely powerful. They are very similar to the people from the Spirit Realm, especially Ming Chuan's style."
"Who else could it be but him?" Yue Hanying's hoarse voice came from the shadows.
"This child is growing at an alarming rate and has repeatedly opposed my temple. Fairy, if we had not eliminated him earlier, he would have been a major threat."
A cold glint flashed in Yueyao's eyes; how could she not know?
But now that Mingchuan has grown powerful and has old monsters like Lingxuzi backing him up, how easy is it to get rid of him?
“It’s no use talking about this now.” Yueyao suppressed the murderous intent churning in her heart. “The most urgent thing is how to deal with the Silent Zen Temple and how to explain things to Master.”
The atmosphere in the hall tensed slightly at the mention of Yue Wuyai.
Yue Wuhen carefully considered the words: "The master's divine skills have been greatly improved, and his ambition lies in the Star Gate. Although there was a minor setback in the Fallen Star Wasteland, it is not irreparable."
The key is whether we can produce new and more valuable progress to demonstrate that we still have the capability to advance the Stargate project.
Yueyao frowned: "New developments?"
“There is more than one Stargate anchor point. The Silent Zen Temple has a deeper presence in the Chaotic Void Sea, making it difficult for us to intervene. Other possible anchor points in the Spirit Realm have not yet been explored... Unless, we can find more crucial key information or control a more valuable source of sacrifices.”
Her gaze deepened, and various pieces of information flashed through her mind.
The young talents of the Spirit Realm, the gifted individuals brought up from the Human Realm through special channels...
Even among certain forces within the Holy Domain that are at odds with her, there are those prodigies with special bloodlines or destinies…
A sudden inspiration struck her, and an idea arose in her mind.
But this matter must first get past Yue Wuyai.
Just as she was pondering, a voice that seemed to resonate deep within her soul suddenly echoed from the moonlit void behind the main seat:
"Xiao Yao, come to the back hall."
It's the voice of the moon without end!
Yueyao's heart skipped a beat. She immediately stood up, gave the three people below a look, signaling them to wait, and then straightened her skirts before walking respectfully toward the back hall.
Passing through a moonlit barrier that ripples like water, the scene before my eyes changed.
The rear hall was more spacious and simple than the front hall, without much decoration. Only the endless moonlight flowed and settled slowly in the air like a solid liquid.
Yue Wuyai did not sit in any position, but stood with his hands behind his back in the center of the hall, with his back to Yue Yao, looking up at the slowly rotating phantom of the bright moon formed from pure moonlight on the dome.
He was still wearing a simple moon-white long robe, his aura restrained, as if he were one with the endless moonlight, yet he was also above it, like the absolute master of this small world.
"Master." Yueyao stopped a few feet behind him and bowed.
Yue Wuyai did not turn around, his voice calm and even: "How was the trip to Dafan Temple?"
"Master Huineng spoke cautiously, revealing no flaws. I was unable to ascertain the true attitude of Dafan Temple, but it seems to be wary of Xingmen and Jiemie Zen Temple," Yueyao reported truthfully, omitting the details of her own setback.
"Hmm." Yue Wuyai remained noncommittal. "Huineng is a man of profound Buddhist knowledge and deep cunning. It would be unwise for him to express his opinion too easily. His silence is the greatest benefit to my Longyin Temple."
"You already know about the Fallen Star Wasteland?" he suddenly asked, changing the subject.
Yueyao's heart tightened, knowing the main point was coming: "Yes, disciple just received the message. It was disciple's negligence that caused the cooperation with the Silent Zen Temple to go wrong. Please punish me, Yue Wuyai."
She did not shirk responsibility; in front of Yue Wuyai, any excuse seemed pale.
Yue Wuyai finally slowly turned around.
Those eyes gazed calmly at Yueyao, as if they could see through all her thoughts.
“Punishment won’t help,” Yue Wuyai said calmly. “The Silent Zen Temple is an ancient remnant, and its actions are extreme and bizarre. Cooperating with them is like asking a tiger for its skin. This setback may not be all bad. At least it makes you see that they are not reliable allies.”
"Master is right," Yueyao said, bowing her head.
"The Star Gate is about to appear, attracting the attention of all realms." Yue Wuyai's gaze was cast into the void, as if piercing through the palace and looking towards a more distant future.
"Our Dragon Roar Temple aims to seize the initiative in this opportunity, not by cooperating with anyone, but by being strong enough ourselves and by controlling key information."
He looked at Yueyao: "What new ideas do you have about the Star Gate Key and the offerings?"
Yueyao perked up, knowing this was her chance to make amends.
She raised her head, her eyes regaining their sharpness and ambition:
“Master, you are wise. Based on my years of investigation and deduction from ancient texts, the Star Gate Key is likely not a single item, but a catalyst, or something related to a specific region, destiny, or even a vast convergence of fortune. The Spirit Realm may be part of this catalyst, or even the key part!”
"As for the offerings..." She paused, her voice low but carrying a cold certainty.
“Ordinary life essence and blood can be used, but the effect is limited. To stabilize a high-level star gate, or even guide it to the realm we need, only powerful cultivators, those with great fortune, or those with special bloodlines and destinies can do it.”
"In my opinion, our next step should not be limited to the Spirit Realm or the Lower Realm. There are also many suitable targets within the Holy Realm. If we can secretly acquire them using secret methods, it will not only accelerate the consolidation of the Star Gate, but also weaken potential opponents—a win-win situation!"
After she finished speaking, she held her breath and waited for Yue Wuyai's reaction.
Yue Wuyai listened quietly, his face still expressionless, but in his deep eyes, it seemed as if stars were rising and falling, and endless possibilities were being deduced.
After a long while, he slowly spoke:
“Your idea is feasible, but extremely risky. The Holy Domain is not the Spirit Domain; the various forces are deeply intertwined, and any move we make will have far-reaching consequences. Once exposed, my Dragon Roar Temple will become the target of everyone’s attacks.”
Yueyao's heart sank, thinking that Yue Wuyai had rejected the idea.
However, Yue Wuyai changed the subject again: "However, extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. The Star Gate contest is a high-stakes gamble. My Dragon Roar Temple can afford to gamble."
He looked at Yueyao, his gaze filled with a greedy anticipation: "You are in full charge of this matter. But remember, it must be kept secret. You can act in the name of the Silent Zen Temple, or create the illusion of an accident. If necessary, you can use Dark Moon."
