Chapter 1777 The Sun of Wanchuan Sect Awakens
Chapter 1777 The Sun of Wanchuan Sect Awakens
Mingchuan's eyes were initially veiled in a thin mist, carrying the bewilderment of someone just waking from a deep sleep, and an discomfort with the light.
His gaze flickered slightly, as if he was trying to make out the figures in front of him and the blurry surroundings.
Leng Xi held her breath, forgetting even to blink, feeling her heart pounding in her chest like a drum, making her eardrums buzz.
She didn't even dare to make a sound, for fear of disturbing this fragile moment of awakening.
Time seemed to freeze for a few breaths.
Gradually, the thin mist in Mingchuan's eyes dissipated, and a faint but familiar light shone deep in his pupils, like a star rekindled in the night sky.
His gaze finally settled steadily on Leng Xi's face, and he recognized that unforgettable face.
His lips moved very slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but only a dry, indistinct breath escaped his lips.
"Water..." The sound was clearer than when I woke up last time, but I was still weak.
Leng Xi snapped back to her senses, overwhelmed by a wave of joy that left even the usually aloof Leng Xi somewhat flustered.
She turned around hastily, but her movements were unusually gentle as she took the warm spring water from the side, carefully lifted Mingchuan's head slightly, and brought the rim of the cup to his chapped lips.
Mingchuan swallowed a few mouthfuls cooperatively, and the burning sensation in his throat was relieved considerably.
The water brought warmth and strength, clearing his muddled mind somewhat.
"Slow down..." Leng Xi's voice was incredibly gentle, with a slight tremor.
After drinking half a glass of water, Mingchuan seemed to have exhausted a lot of energy. He leaned back on the pillow, breathing slightly heavily.
But his eyes remained fixed on Leng Xi, unblinking, as if trying to see into her heart. This sight caused Leng Xi's eyes to redden, her heart filled with heartache for Ming Chuan.
"Wife..." He was finally able to utter two words clearly, his voice still hoarse, but filled with the relief of surviving a disaster and deep affection, "How long... have I been asleep?"
Leng Xi put down the water glass, sat back down on the edge of the bed, and took his hand. Feeling the faint but real warmth from his fingertips, her anxious heart finally calmed down.
"Not long," she said softly, avoiding a specific number of days so as not to burden him, "How are you feeling? Is there anything particularly uncomfortable?"
Mingchuan tried moving his fingers and checking his internal condition. His brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, then relaxed, revealing a weak yet characteristically roguish smile:
"It feels like... like I was trampled by ten barbaric elephants and then pieced back together... I feel pain everywhere and have no strength anywhere."
He paused, then his eyes sharpened: "Outside... everything's settled? Blackwater City... the Western Regions... Flowing Wind Valley?"
Even after waking up, what he was most concerned about was the crisis that had threatened the very survival of the Spirit Realm before he fell into a coma.
Leng Xi nodded, her nose tingling, her eyes reddening even more, and she smiled helplessly: "Really, you've become like this yourself, and instead of resting properly, you're still concerned about what's going on outside."
She sighed and briefed him on the subsequent developments: "Don't worry, the crisis outside has been resolved. The three hidden dangers have been completely eliminated, and the Spirit Realm has returned to peace. The four major sects... are now willing to listen to your opinions."
She didn't mention the tireless protection she and others had provided day and night, nor did she mention his heroic act of summoning dragon energy and turning the tide while he was unconscious. None of that mattered; what mattered was that he had woken up.
After listening, Mingchuan let out a long, silent sigh of relief. His tense mind finally relaxed, and his eyelids seemed to grow heavy again.
"That's good..." he murmured, his gaze softening again as he looked intently at Leng Xi, "Thank you for your hard work... and everyone else too..."
Leng Xi shook her head, tears welling in her eyes: "As long as you're alright, that's all that matters."
Just then, the door to the quiet room was gently pushed open a crack, and Dong Chuyan, carrying a bowl of medicinal porridge that she had just cooked according to Ye Yan's new recipe, peeked in with Ran Qianqian.
They were delivering the medicine as usual, but they were caught off guard when they met Mingchuan's tired but open eyes.
The two women froze on the spot, almost dropping the tray in their hands.
“Ming…Mingchuan?!” Dong Chuyan covered her mouth, tears instantly streaming down her face.
"You jerk! You...you're really awake?!" Ran Qianqian's eyes also reddened, and her voice choked with sobs.
Their commotion alerted Ah Xiong, who was guarding outside.
He had just sent Chen Shu and the others to the dining hall, but worried, he turned back. Just then, he heard a commotion inside and suddenly pushed the door open.
"Ming-ge?!!"
The roar was so loud that it almost shook the dust off the beams of the quiet room.
Ah Xiong's burly body blocked the doorway. He stared wide-eyed at Ming Chuan, who had just woken up in bed. His expression quickly changed from shock to ecstasy. He grinned, wanting to laugh out loud, but he was afraid of disturbing Ming Chuan, so he held back his laughter until his face turned red.
Immediately afterwards, Jinman, Jizhou, Yeyan... everyone nearby was startled by the commotion and quickly gathered outside the quiet room.
The small, quiet room was instantly filled with a warm, excited, and unbelievable atmosphere of joy.
As Mingchuan looked at the familiar faces and the undisguised concern and excitement in their eyes, he was enveloped in a great warmth.
He wanted to say something, to crack a joke, to reassure them that he was alright, but a heavy sense of exhaustion washed over him again like a tidal wave.
He tried to stay awake, winked at Ah Xiong, and then looked at Jin Man and Ji Zhou, nodding slightly in acknowledgment.
Ye Yan quickly stepped forward, took Ming Chuan's pulse again, and examined him carefully for a moment. Finally, a relieved smile appeared on his face: "Alright, alright, everyone stop crowding here! This kid just woke up, and his spirit and body are very weak. He needs to rest! Leave one person to take care of him, and everyone else can leave! Let him rest well, eat something, and recover slowly!"
Everyone then seemed to wake up from a dream and quickly controlled their emotions.
"Ming-ge, you should rest well! Don't think about anything!" Ah Xiong wiped his eyes and said in a muffled voice.
“Yes, we’ve got you covered!” Jinman and Jizhou said in unison.
"Mingchuan, let's go out first and let Xiaoxi take care of you." Although Dong Chuyan and Ran Qianqian were reluctant to part, they knew what was important and left, turning back every few steps.
Soon, only Mingchuan, Lengxi, and the medicinal porridge that Ye Yan had ordered them to drink remained in the quiet room.
This time, Mingchuan did not resist the call of sleep.
Under Leng Xi's gentle yet firm supervision, he managed to drink half a bowl of porridge, feeling the warm medicinal power dissipate in his body, bringing a gentle nourishment.
"Sleep a little longer," Leng Xi gently coaxed him, wiping the residue from the corner of his mouth. "We're all here."
Mingchuan looked at her, his eyes filled with undisguised dependence and reassurance. He softly hummed in agreement, closed his eyes, and almost instantly drifted back into a peaceful sleep.
But this time, everyone knows that the deep-seated illness has been cured and the dawn has broken.
The sun of Wanchuan Sect has finally risen again...!
