Chapter 177 Carrying and Running
Chapter 177 Carrying and Running
The desert lizard stared at Su Siyi with its bright eyes, motionless, and its small tail swayed gently, as if telling something.
"Do you still want to eat apples?" Su Siyi could only ask tentatively. The desert lizard nodded at her first, then shook its head, which made Su Siyi full of doubts.
"You want to eat apples, but you still have to follow me," Su Siyi boldly guessed what it meant. After all, the desert lizard had previously shown an extreme love for apples, and now it was so unwilling to leave her, perhaps it just wanted to follow her to find more delicious food.
The desert lizard nodded excitedly, indicating that it agreed with Su Siyi's guess.
"Well, forget it, follow me if you want!" Su Siyi finally sighed helplessly and accepted the established fact. However, since she had decided to let the desert lizard follow her, she would naturally share the fruit with it generously when she enjoyed it.
Su Siyi trudged through the desert for the better part of a day, but the scenery around her remained unchanged. Looking out, she saw the endless expanse of desert, a sea of golden sand that seemed endless. It seemed she still had a long way to go before reaching her desired destination.
Suddenly, the desert lizard made a "sizzling" sound. The sound was particularly abrupt in the silent desert and instantly attracted Su Siyi's attention.
"What's wrong?" Su Siyi looked at it with confusion, and from its actions she felt that it seemed a little anxious and uneasy.
"Zizizi." The desert lizard once again eagerly beckoned her to look behind her. Su Siyi suddenly realized what was happening and immediately turned to look. She saw a massive sandstorm sweeping towards them with overwhelming force. The dust billowed like a demonic force, and she couldn't help but gasp, feeling an indescribable fear well up in her heart: "Uh, this is bad. What should I do now?"
Faced with this sudden danger, Su Siyi panicked, her mind blank, completely at a loss as to what to do. But at that moment, the desert lizard displayed remarkable decisiveness and courage. It quickly used its tail to swung Su Siyi onto its back, then, without hesitation, turned and dashed off in the opposite direction of the sandstorm.
Su Siyi was stunned by the lizard's actions. She had never imagined this tiny creature could possess such courage and strength. But she soon realized this might be her only chance of survival. She clung to the lizard's back, feeling the jolts of its swift movement and the relentless wind and sand. She silently prayed, hoping to escape this terrible storm as quickly as possible.
Finally, with the full help of the desert lizard, she successfully escaped the sandstorm.
From then on, she rode on the desert lizard throughout her journey. Having such a unique mount was still quite novel to her. However, she kept her promise and gave the desert lizard an apple every hour. Each time the desert lizard ate an apple, it was filled with joy, as if it were full of energy, and ran at a very fast speed.
Su Siyi had initially wondered if this environment was full of animals as large as the desert lizard. However, after three days of walking in the desert, she still hadn't seen any other animals. The endless desert seemed like a forgotten world, with only her and the desert lizard struggling forward.
Finally, on the fourth day, thanks to the unremitting efforts of the desert lizard, Su Siyi walked out of the desert. What appeared before her was a large rocky forest. The huge rocks in various shapes seemed to be a masterpiece of nature's magic.
"Lizard, let's rest here tonight. Do you know how to get out of this rocky forest?" Su Siyi asked expectantly, looking at the rocky forest where the border line could not be seen.
The desert lizard nodded, indicating that it knew the way out. Su Siyi saw it nod, and her heart was filled with joy. At least she was not alone here.
"Thank you for letting me not be alone here." Su Siyi thanked it happily, with tears of gratitude in her eyes.
This is the first time for her to survive alone in the wild for such a long time!
The desert lizard hummed, a mysterious sound dancing in the air, as if responding to her words. The unique sound, with its indescribable rhythm, made one wonder what it was trying to express.
Su Siyi took out her tent and expertly activated the automatic erection program. Soon, a small yet sturdy tent stood firmly on this unfamiliar land. Then, she pulled out her self-heating pot and began heating food. Not forgetting her companion, she also prepared a portion for the desert lizard. After spending a few days with her, she discovered that the desert lizard was an omnivore, and it would eat whatever she ate. However, her tent was far too small for the lizard's massive body; it couldn't fit in. So, every night, she slept inside the tent, while the lizard faithfully watched over her from outside.
Thanks to the desert lizard, Su Siyi felt less afraid of sleeping outside alone. Although she still felt a little nervous, she felt much more at ease with this powerful companion by her side. It was like a silent guardian, giving her courage and strength.
However, Su Siyi pondered daily the purpose of this test. Was it simply to allow her to survive alone? Was it to allow her to bravely walk out on her own? With the help of the desert lizard, she had successfully escaped the desert, and now she faced the challenge of escaping this endless rocky forest. However, she had already communicated with the desert lizard, and it had also confirmed that it could escape the forest. Therefore, her escape was only a matter of time. However, she could never fathom the purpose of this test. Although filled with doubts, she could not guess the answer, so she could only continue to move forward with determination. She knew that no matter how many unknowns and challenges lay ahead, she must face them bravely and seek the answer hidden within the test.
"Never mind, it's getting late. Better go to bed early," Su Siyi thought helplessly. While having the desert lizard carry her did save her a lot of energy, sitting and traveling like this every day was exhausting. After all, maintaining the same posture for too long would make the body stiff and uncomfortable. She sighed softly and turned to walk into the tent, ready to rest and regain her strength for tomorrow's journey.
